A/N: I'm too lazy to fix the beginning of my story but I'm done with the "limited third person POVS" right now, just gonna let it flow now baby, woo

"We should arrive in Zaun early tomorrow morning." Vi informed Caitlyn, letting go of the wheel and walking over to release the anchor. "We should be safe to sleep here for the night."

"Zaun?" Caitlyn frowned, turning her gaze toward the pirate.

"Well we need a crew, don't we? I'm hoping at least one of my old crew is still alive to help us." Vi agreed, doing her best to hide the shadows in her eyes as she strode over to face the soldier. "You should get some rest. Pirates can be a rowdy lot."

Caitlyn watched Vi, unsure of how to proceed with asking the questions bubbling up in her thoughts. After a long moment of silence, her curiosity finally got the best of her. "There- there was no record in the files of you or your crimes. How did you end up imprisoned in the first place?"

Vi's eyebrows lifted. "Clearly it was for my sunny personality." She joked. "Get some rest." She told Caitlyn again, heading down belowdecks.

Cait couldn't help but notice how Vi had not-so-subtly avoided her question and she wondered what had happened to the girl to land her in prison for who knows how long, and to make her so angry all the time. As she yawned, however, she decided those were questions she would get answered another time, as she found her way to an empty quarters to sleep.

Meanwhile, Vi couldn't help but lie awake, plagued by the memories of her life before her years in that stone cell.

"I thought we weren't supposed to raid British ships by ourselves." Claggor stated uncertainly as the four young pirates crept aboard The Academy, unseen.

"Little Man said that this was the ship. Few troops and lots of loot. As far as I can tell, he's been right so far." Vi murmured, waving for the other kids to stick behind her. She turned to them. "Vander's the one who keeps telling us we need to earn our place in this world, after all."

"Oh man, he's going to kill us if we screw this up. Maybe you shouldn't have brought Powder along." Mylo complained. Vi gave him a look that promised death if he didn't shut the fuck up. "How about you concentrate on not fucking up?" She hissed at him, hoisting herself through a window into someone's empty quarters. Immediately all of the kids eyes got wide. None of them had ever seen this much stuff before.

"Take everything that looks valuable." Vi directed them, beginning to load things into the bag. "Before Mylo fills it with junk." She added, waving away a set of rusty spoons that he tried to throw in.

"No fun." Mylo muttered as he began to also search for items of value.

Powder opened a chest and noticed it was filled with several bright blue glowing orbs that looked as though they were filled with lightning. Her eyes widened and she quickly began stuffing them in her pockets when there was a loud bang at the door.

"Everybody, grab your shit and go!" Vi rammed a chair against the door to keep it closed as they escaped. As the kids made their way outside and back to their ship, the ship they'd just raided exploded in a bright flash of blue light.
