Poem 2

Isn't it funny
How hypocrisy plays out?
I tell myself I mustn't slip.
I can't let a single tear drip.

While I smile and say that it would be okay,
I can't always take my own advice.
I can't tell anyone, though.

Maybe if you're reading this
With the same look in your eyes as me,
Maybe you could open up,
Let the vile empty itself out,
So you can feel free.

See, I did it again.
I can't take my own advice.
But maybe the purpose I write this
Is because I want the future me to see it

Hopefully that me will be smiling more genuinely
And I can open up without shame.

So hello, future me.
How are you doing?
Have you improved?
Learned to think straight?
Slept more?
Ate a little better?
Felt a little better?

So maybe you won't reply,
But that's fine.
I don't want a reply.
I just want to feel happy.

Will I feel happy?
