It had only been a few hours, but the tension was as hard as a rock. Rodrick knew you well enough to know that he had to think fast. But still he was caught off guard by your anger, he knew you'd cry and then hold a grudge, so anger was new.

This time Rodrick was smart, well smarter than he was before. He'd given you enough time to calm down and him enough to think. But even with these hours to come up with the perfect apology, Rodrick was stumped.

So he decided to do the next best thing.

Standing at your front door, Rodrick waited anxiously for someone to open it. When it did open, Rodrick was quickly caught by surprise. Expecting to see your mom who he knew liked him, but your brother were a different story.

They don't let him before slamming the door in his face. It opened a few seconds later, but this time it was Faith. Which he wasn't fully sure was any better.

"You real bold coming here after you made her that made."

"Was it really that bad?" He asks, voice riddled with guilt.

"Yep. I haven't seen her that mad since... "

The three of them went on and on about how they'd never seen her that anger. Purposely trying to make Rodrick feel worse for her, their sister. And it was working.

"Can I just talk to y/n." He blurts out, loudly. A very small, "please" following it.

"What makes you think she even wants to see you?"

"I know she doesn't wanna see me right now, but I just need her to know the truth."

"Which is ?"

"I sorta lied to her. Well, technically, I dodge her question."

"Technically." Faith mocked before stepping aside.

It took a few good minutes of convincing to get you to come downstairs. Let alone talk to Rodrick. But anger aside,  you still wanted an explanation. Regardless of how it would make you feel. Or what it meant to you and Rodrick.

To everyone's surprise, when you saw him, you had no immediate reaction. You asked simply if he was actually here to tell you the truth. He assured you that was why he was here. And that if you didn't want to hear it, he could wait until you were ready.

Once again, your rational thinking was nonexistent. Without a second thought, you dragged Rodrick up to your room. Closing the door behind you.

"I don't think she's allowed to have a boy in her room."  One of your brothers noted.

"You wanna go up there and tell he that." The other said.

Now back in your room, your calm facade had quickly melted away.

"I was completely lying to you in the car. I didn't want you to know how I felt because I was scared you didn't feel the same and that I'd ruin our friendship." He spoke quick and more honest than either of you expected.

"Why did you think I wouldn't feel the same ?"

"Because girls like you never do."

"Girls like me?" You asked, taken back by his choice of words.

It was a phrase you'd heard far too many times, and never in a good way. But he didn't mean in the way you took it.

"Yes, girls like you. Smart, pretty nice girls."

Once again, you were taken aback by his words. You knew he was telling the truth, but hearing him say it was certainly new.

"You actually like me? This wasn't just some sick inside joke?"

"Of course not." He said, baffled by the fact that you even think that.

"Then why not just tell me this before. Why have Chris and Ben tell me at some random party." You asked, referring to a few days ago.

"Y/n the only reason I went to that party was because they dragged me there to find somebody to distract me from you. I didn't know they were gonna tell you."

"Damn." You whispered to yourself. "Really?"

"Really."

The two take a moment to take everything in. Sitting in a not awkward one but a calm silence.

"So we're good?" Rodrick asked, a smile pulling at the corner of his lips.

"I don't think we're good, good. But it's nice to know that you feel the same."

Small smiles drew on both of your lips. Happy to know that for once the feeling was mutual.
