keys

I was born in an invisible cage
My wings ashen dust through time
For reality I never braced
To me freedom was a crime.

Always terrified of the big jump
It loomed, cackled, leered at me
In my throat formed fear's lump
If I proved them wrong, what would I be?

As I took a deep breath
And leaped down into glory
Their mocking eyes widened
My weapon was my lethal fury.

Let them mock, ridicule, jeer
Let me take the dive when my doors open
It takes a long time to forge keys
From truth, passion and curiosity.
