Medusa Gorgon was a witch known to have a thousand snakes inside her body. In her world, every witch have their spells depending on the animals they have attached themselves into like Medusa bearing two snake tattoos found in each of her arm which can materialize upon command. Her childhood centered more on her sibling rivalry with Arachne, her older sister who was known to be the spider witch. They would fight over almost anything even in the ways they could attract men in which Arachne would often tease Medusa about not getting the man of his dreams. This caused much of her rage and she became hell-bent to prove herself better than her sister that she even turned to the organization that hunted witches like her, the DWMA. Apparently, this resulted to the downfall of Arachne and her organization, the Arachnophobia, hundreds of years ago. Then, she targeted DWMA too. She entered as a school nurse and kept her real identity hidden. She asked for the help of the Grandwitch who, cautiously, sponsored her researches. Long before the experiments, she met a fellow researcher, the man who almost changed her entire world. He was Smith Silverstone, a man with pink, short hair with a tall and thin stature. They were both so young to be in love that time. The burning passion was soon extinguished by mistrust and anger. From the start, Medusa had her eyes on Franken Stein, the strongest meister of DWMA, and that she thought it was impossible for her to have an everlasting relationship with him, thus, she accepted Smith's love believing it would vanquish her feelings for Stein. But, she was wrong. The man who even refused to acknowledge her childbearing abandoned her.
Shortly, she named her child Crona. Not even her own child was exempted in the experiments and she replaced the child's blood with the Black blood, a fluid with extraordinary properties. She all did this because she aimed for a change in this world, to create a new order where the norms would go according to her taste. Therefore, the process of making a Demon God was touched. She made ways to push her own child to become a formidable Demon God to the point of punishing him with the most unimaginable methods if the child failed to do his tasks. Unfortunately, the child wasn't really sure about it and her punishments proved to have made the child become more introvert than the usual making him quite unqualified to become the Demon his mother wants him to be. As the mother, Medusa anticipated her child's weak spots. She had a reserved plan, to revive the first Demon God found sealed within the Death city territory. She recruited a few namely, Free, the werewolf, Eruka Frogg, the frog witch, and the Mizune sisters, the mouse witches. Together with Crona, they were to revive the Demon God in Death city by injecting the perfected black blood made by Medusa. On the eve of the Foundation day of DWMA where Lord Death comes out of his mirror and groups with his students, it was easy for Medusa and her team to lock them up using Free's magic eye that specializes in spatial magic. Although some forces of DWMA was able to escape that magic and did what they can to stop Medusa, the revival was inevitable. The first Demon God was alive once again. Unluckily, Medusa was sliced in half by Spirit, the Deathscythe, and Stein along the process. Lord Death failed to defeat Asura, the Demon God, letting it escape and hide himself somewhere.
Briefly after the fight, Medusa was able to escape death by splitting her soul and placing herself on a snake. She then possessed a kid named Rachel where she gradually regained her powers. Free, Eruka and the Mizune sisters survived the forces of DWMA and was able to flee while Crona was left and captured. She took this as an advantage and Crona became her spy unwillingly. Afterwards, the revival of Asura awakened Arachne who hid herself in a Golem. Arachnophobia was back to business. Medusa asked Eruka to act as one of Arachne's minions so that she could keep an eye on her sister while she ordered Crona to find the secret vault where the magic instruments were hidden inside the school. After days of having no progress on Crona's side, she changed plans and focused on Stein who has been affected with madness. Crona slipped one of Medusa's snake into Marie's drink. This would speed up Stein's insanity whenever he was near Marie, his current partner. This was also in preparation for the battle for the Brew, the greatest magic instrument ever created by Eibon. She predicted that Stein would be in the frontlines in the war against Arachnophobia. She also created a replica of the magic tool to prevent Arachne from acquiring the real one. With the real Brew in her hands, she surrendered to DWMA and gave the real tool to obtain their trust and listen to her request. Her freedom in exchange to the whereabouts of Asura who joined forces with Arachne was agreed. People from DWMA couldn't hurt her as this would violate the contract between them. At that time, Franken Stein had already fallen under her control. Much to her surprise, Crona, who was exiled, and Marie, who resigned from her post as a teacher in DWMA, was ready to fight her to retrieve Stein. Maka and Soul also joined the fight against her. With Marie's Wavelength of Redemption, she brought Stein back to normal. Maka and Soul defeated Medusa and Rachel was freed. For a canny witch like her, she was able to pull off the same trick she did when she was killed before. The snake witch still lurked around. She would surely resurface once more.
