AN: This is a heartbreaking one and you can blame my dear friend ClaudineGrajo for this, haha!

"Do you want me to set you up with him?"

Jen read the text message from her rep for approximately the millionth time. Did she?

Her eyes wandered off, from the first row of the auditorium, where she was seated, to the coffee house set, where the other were currently up to some kind of mischief. From the looks of it, Matt had cracked some of his trademark smutty jokes, and while Lisa and Courteney were clearly tiptoeing the line between being offended and breaking into laughter, Matthew had fallen back in his chair, and David was touching his face, wiping the tears of laughter from his beautiful chocolate eyes.

David.

Her mind flashed back to a moment in his dressing room, at the beginning of the last week of Season 1, after the first table read for the season finale...

"I just think it's such a bummer that the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television. I HATE Jimmy, why did he have to make this a guilt trip from day 1? I mean what...", she ranted, only to be cut off by his lips touching her, his hands in her hair - and as soon as she had invited him - his tongue in her mouth.

She had felt a magical pull towards this man, even before she really knew the person he was. If she was being honest, she had kind of fallen in love with him already when he was basically still a college boy, hitting the stages of Northwestern with his classmates and she had watched him in a play. And she had been beyond  excited when she had seen his name on the callsheat for the new show she was going to audition for. One of the biggest perks of this gig, beside the good chance at a big break and a steady income from acting.

Then, they had hit it off immediately, so much so that the fact that he had a girlfriend back in Chicago disappeared quickly. So much so, that sitcom director legend Jimmy Burrows himself had thought it was necessary to pull then both to the side to lecture them about professionalism and how getting "too involved with your co-star" could ruin a show, especially an ensemble show like this.

And as much as her head acknowledged the fact that Jimmy was totally right, her heart kept kicking and screaming and wanting what it wanted. And it had felt unfair. Because WHY on the one hand refer to their obvious feelings for one another as "chemistry" and make them the central romance of the show,  but on the other hand tell them to keep it professional and stay out of each other's pants?

They had done this dance for about four years now, each being in and out of relationships, that seemed like a quick fix, comfort and a medicine against loneliness, when the one you wanted the most was off-limits. And they had always thought this was just temporary, this show wouldn't last forever, right? And then, their time would come. Time to be together, time to start a family... because oh... she wanted that. And she desperately wanted it with HIM. Seeing him work with the child actors that played his son... was making her uterus itch and her heart ache every time she saw it.

And at least they had gotten to live the love on screen for a little more than a year, one that could not be... in private. Until that got ripped from her and broke her heart...

Crying on his doorstep. Screw the boyfriend, screw Jimmy. Seeing the pain on his face while they filmed the all too real breakup scene had caused her to run to his arms... for comfort... for everything she had craved and denied herself for years. His lips on hers, his hands all over her body... her naked skin on his bedsheet. Finally becoming one... before coming to the realization the next morning that things were still the same.
