Poppykit stared at Maplestar, then her sister, Sunkit. "I don't want to leave you." She whispered to her sister. Sun kit looked at her, placing her tail on her sister's back. "I'm sure we won't be separated." She sounded reassuring, making Poppykit's fur settle. "Toad'star seems scary..." Sunkit mewed, glancing at the Shadowclan leader. Poppykit looked at him. "Kinda." Maplestar finished talking and got down from the tree, Toadstar following her. "Which kit are we going to take?" The Shadowclan leader asked, staring at Poppykit with harsh amber eyes. "They don't look anything like their father." Maplestar smiled at the kits. "But they look just like my sister." She purred. "Sunkit, won't you come with me?" Sunkit smiled at her. "What about Poppykit? You said we don't have to leave each other!" "I'll gladly take them both." Toadstar meowed. Maplestar grabbed Sunkit. "Too bad." She looked at Poppykit. "Goodbye Poppykit, just remember you will always be welcome in Thunderclan." Toadstar grabbed Poppykit, and the clans separated.

Sunkit sat down. It was the day after the gathering. "Poppykit will be coming back right?" She asked Maplestar. Maplestar was like a mother to her, they were kin after all. "I'm sorry Sun'kit, but I'm afraid not. She is a Shadowclan kit now." She said, continuing to groom the ginger and white kit. "But Shadowclan is mean and scary!" Maplestar purred with amusement. "Shadowclan is just as good as any other clan. They may be a bit more aggressive, but they aren't mean. And scary? They may be big and scary to a little kit like you." She said, reassuring Sunkit. "Now, go play with the other kits." She mewed, nudging Sun'kit to her paws. "Okay. Bye Maplestar!" Sunkit padded out of her den and over to the other kits. "Where is Poppykit?" One of them asked. "Toadstar took her," Sunkit replied. "Oh..." "But it's  okay, she will be a Shadowclan cat." A light brown tom padded up to her. "Hi, Sunkit! Where is Poppykit?" The other kits looked at him. "She is with Shadowclan." The gray kit mewed.

Toadstar sat Poppykit down. "Welcome to Shadowclan." He said. She looked around. It wasn't much different than Thunderclan's camp. "But Toad'star, she's a bright ginger, she looks nothing like our warriors." The deputy said, glaring at Poppykit. "Well, she'll soon fit in just fine." He replied, tapping Poppykits head with his tail tip. Poppykit smiled at him. "Now Poppykit, how about I show you around your new camp?" She nodded. "I guess." First, he brought her to the leader's den. "This is my den, only me, the medicine cat, and my deputy are allowed in here, unless an emergency." He then brought her to the apprentice's den. "This is where the apprentices sleep. You will sleep here when you turn six moons old." She sniffed the inside, there was a she-cat sleeping inside. "That's Oakpaw, she will be a warrior in a few moons." He brought her to the warrior's den. "This is the warrior's den, the warriors sleep here." There were a few warriors inside. "That white and gray tom is Owlblaze, and the two black she-cats are sisters, their names are Willowsong and Lillybranch." He then brought her to the elder's den. "This is the elder's den." She walked closer. There were a few cats. "That is Ravenbreeze, Tigertail, Minnowfang, and Snowheart." He then brought her to the Nursey. "Come on, there's someone I want you to meet." Once they got inside, there were three queens, one pregnant, one with three kits, and one with no kits at all. "That is Dustyfur," He pointed to the pregnant she-cat. "That is Cloudheart, and her kits, Sandkit, Shadowkit, and Dovekit." He pointed to the queen with the three sleeping kits who were not much older than her. "And this is my mate, Silverwing." He nuzzled the silver she-cat with no kits. "We sadly lost a litter a few moons ago, and...Poppykit, We want to adopt you." Silverwing smiled at Toadstar. "Yes." "Really?" Poppykit asked. "Your father was my brother," Toadstar admitted. "I will protect you and your mother with my life." He nuzzled Silverwing and Poppykit. For once, She felt at peace.

Poppykit pushed a pinecone away with her paw. It had been a week since she and her sister were separated. Silverwing softly padded up to Poppykit. "What's wrong, dear?" She asked, sitting next to her adopted kit. "None of the other kits want to play with me!" Poppykit wailed. Silverwing smiled. "That's nothing to worry about, dear, how about we go see what the clan is doing." She nudged Poppykit to her paws and over to the medicine cat den. "Let's see what Pebblefleck is doing." Once they got into the den, The grey-specked tom was pulling a thorn from Minnowfang's paw pad. Poppykit walked over. "Whatcha doin' Pebblefleck?" "Great Starclan, now there's a kit in the den!" The elder complained. "Don't mind him, there is a thorn stuck in his paw pad right here, see?" Poppykit looked closer to see the large thorn in his paw. "I know a few herbs." Poppykit said, flicking her stub tail. "Really? What kinds?" Pebblefleck asked, "Cobweb, poppy seed and marigold!" She replied. "Wow that's impressive! I wont be using Cobweb or Poppy seed today, but I will be using marigold." He purred. The elder rolled his eyes. "If this kit want to be an apprentice how about you have her clean my bedding? This is all those lazy apprentices faults." Pebblefleck quickly pulled the thorn from Minnowfangs paw, a tiny spot of red blood coming from the spot. "Poppykit can you get me some marigold? Minnowfang you can lick your paw clean." Poppykit smiled, feeling a rush of excitement as she ran into the back of the den. "Marigold...marigold...marigold where is it?" She sniffed the herbs, until she saw a familiar one. "Yes!" She grabbed the redish yellow flower and brought it over to Pebblefleck. The tom stared at her with surprise. "Impressive!" He meowed before chewing a pulp and placinging it onto Minnowfangs paw. "Just stay off of it for a few days." He meowed. "Thanks." The elder left the den. "Silverwing did you see me help-" She turned to look for her mother, but she had left the den. Disapointment rithered in her paws. "Poppykit." Poppykit turned and looked at pebblefleck. "Yes?" "Is there any other herbs you know of at all?" He asked, looking serious. "Um, I think borage and horsetail are some? Juniper berries maybe?" He stared at the smart kit. "How do you know about these? Where you taught by a medicine cat?" She nodded. "Yeah the one with the stars in her fur." Pebblefleck stopped cleaning up his den and turned to look at her. "Stars in her fur? What do you mean?" "She wasn't like us, like I could see though her, and she had this blue light coming from her." Pebblefleck stood up. "It looks like Toad'star chose the right kit." He muttered quietly to himself. "You can go now, Poppykit." He said, letting the kit pad off. Poppykit walked outside looking for her mother. "Silverwing! Silverwing guess what!" Running over to her, she purred happily. "Hi, darling! Did you have fun?" She nodded. "Yeah! I helped Pebblefleck with herbs! But then he made me go..." Poppykit looked at the ground. "Why?" "Because I told him the cat with the stars in her fur taught me." Silverwing stiffened. "Stars in her fur?" Poppykit nodded up at her. "And a blue light coming from her, but not all look like that." "What do you mean not all of them look like that?" "Some of them don't have stars in their fur, or blue lights...Sometimes they have red lights." When was the last time you saw one of them?" Silverwing asked. "Oh, right now." Silverwing stood, freaked out. "Toadstar! Pebblefleck!" Pebblefleck ran over to them. "Is everything okay, Silverwing?" Pebblefleck asked, breathing heavily. "Poppykit is seeing ghosts." Pebblefleck nodded. "I know, she told me." Poppykit didn't hear what they were meowing about. Insted, she saw the cat. He didn't have stars in his fur, and he was glowing red. "Poppykit. Poppykit whats wrong." Pebbleshine asked. "The tom over there, cant you see him?" Toadstar and Tanwyfall ran over. "Tawnyfall is telling me Poppykit is seeing ghosts?" Pebblefleck was still staring at Poppykit. "Do they ever do anything to you?" "Once. Once a star furred cat told me to fear the flame." Pebblefleck retorted. "The kit is getting prophecies from Starclan." The non star furred tom looked at her with slitted eyes, a scar across his face. "Toadstar I'm scared..." She moved closer to him. "Theres nothing to be scared of, your clan will protect you." Are we sure she isn't just telling stories? Maybe the acts are her imaginary friends." Tanwyfall mewed. "An imaginary friend wouldn't tell her prophecies." Pebblefleck meowed. "I'm a medicine cat, and I know what a prophecy looks like." The ghost walked up to Pebblefleck, sliding his tail under his chain. "You cant see him?" Poppykit asked. All of them shook there heads. "What is he saying?" "He told me to come to the bridge with a stone." She mewed, repeating the ghosts words. "Poppykit look at me." Toadstar grew serious. "Listen to me young kit, you must stay away from ghosts for now especially the ones who don't have stars in there fur there dark forest cats." "Oh..." Poppykit replied. "He's gone now..." Poppykit blibked, the red mist disappearing.
