Miss Peregrine was back home.

Miss P : Jamie, you will find sheets on your bed. Miss Bloom, could you take Jamie to the room you share?

Emma : Enoch could very well do that.

Enoch : No thanks.

Enoch walked into the corner of the room without glancing at Jamie and sat down, looking at one of his puppets made did with what he has to hand. The two girls arrived in the room. Emma did not say a word. It was Jamie who broke the silence

Jamie : Do you have a problem with me? All of you?

Emma : (without much conviction) : What? No, of course, we believe Miss Peregrine.

Jamie : Look, I know you don't like me too much. And I understand that, I come into your daily life like this when you all know each other for ages. I told Miss Peregrine that I didn't want to disturb you and that I could stay in the maid's room at Bentham's house. But she insisted, so I'm here.

Emma : We could trust you, if only you told us your peculiarity. Maybe we'd be less suspicious.

Jamie : I'm sorry, I can't.

Emma : Then we won't get along. I'm sorry we do, but you're not very popular. Bronwyn and Horace are suspicious, just as I am, the little ones are all scared by the presence of a stranger, Jake and Noor are both too new to be able to have any sense, and Enoch doesn't like you, and he finds you unbearable.

Jamie : Oh, okay.

What Emma was saying was almost the truth. Indeed, everyone thought Jamie was suspicious. But Enoch thought she was fantastic, Emma knew it. But to annoy Jamie, she was ready to say anything. Emma didn't understand what Enoch found in her. Not that she was jealous, but it's just that Jamie wasn't exceptional.
