I had my earbuds in my ears blasting my music with a book in my hand reading simultaneously as the plane landed.

We slowly started to gather our piles and piles of luggage and went to the immigrants section to get registered. As we advanced in the line I saw a young, strawberry-blond boy, about my age leaving from the front of the line I was standing in. Brilliant, just brilliant. Maybe I'd run into him later in the rest of my life here in Great Britain.

Before I knew it we had arrived at the front of the line. "Passports?" the girl at the counter said, and my family passed up the little books so that I could hand them to the lady. She ran a quick check through them, got on her computer, and started pecking around at the keys. "Do you need any cash converted?" she asked. Then I handed her all the american money we had, and she quickly ran off. She came back a few moments later with a medium sized leather pouch in hand  and gave it to me. "Your all set!" she exclaimed handing us our passports back. Then we headed for the door.

After leaving the airport we caught a taxi, which the driver had completely lost the pot. "Where are you off to?" he said his voice a little to loud for the confined space we were in and sounded a little maddened. "Could you take us to the nearest residential building? That would be brilliant!" I said in my best english accent. Since my family had put me in charge of speaking. He started to head north at an astonishing speed, before making a few turns and pulling up to a tall building, which I assumed was where we would be staying.

"Here you go!" he held out his hand as he spoke. "How many?" I muttered as I pulled out my pouch our newly exchanged pounds were in. "2 pounds please." he said his hand still extended eagerly. I pulled out 2 small gold and silver coins and placed them in his hand, and hopped out of the taxi.

As we walked into the building, i noticed the same strawberry blond haired boy standing with his mum and dad checking into the same residential building me and my family were. "You can go sit down, we've got it from here." My mother whispered to me. So I went to go sit down on the bench. Soon after the boy followed and sat next to me.

"Hey, are you new around here?" the boy said as he looked at me. "Yeah, I am." I muttered finally dropping the english accent for the first time that day. "So am I, my name is Fredrick by the way, but you can call me Fred." he offer out his hand to me, and I smiled at that retuning the offer "I'm Liyla." I said with a smile putting on the english accent, he smiled wide at that "Nice to meet you." He said smiling as he had said it in his own accent, making me giggle a little bit.

"I am going to assume your here because of what's been happening on the news?" he asked, and I looked at him confused, "The mandate?" he added,  the confusion never cleared up but he didn't elaborate. He changed the subject instead. "We left a week ago, got here by boat." he muttered looking down "I just left today, we took the plan." I replied looking down as well.

After a moment of awkward silence Fred spoke up "Do you want to hang out later?" He asked taking his gaze from the ground and looking at me, "After we both finish unpacking of course." He added "That would be lovely." I said smiling up at him

"Phone number?" He asked and I pulled out my iPhone, and pulling up my contacts. We exchanged phone numbers and then when we looked over at our parents we saw they were talking, and started giggling together.

"Making new friends are we now?" Fred murmured to our parents which made them turn their heads and smile at us, "Yes I guess we are," his mother said with a smile. "I see you two have met." She added as she looked at both of us, then back at my parents. "Turns out our flats are near each other, we were going to hang out at their flat after we all finish unpacking." My mother stated.

Me and Fred looked at each other and smiled. "We were thinking we should do the exact same thing." We both said with a laugh.

We then all started to head up stairs together all in one great big conversation. Then we finally reached our flats - which were not only near each other but right next to each other.
"See you later!" I said waving bye to Fred. "See you soon he replied with a smile.

We entered our flat and I went to claim my room which turned out to have a balcony. I set my bags down on the ground and walked out onto it. Moments later Fred appeared on the oneu next to mine. Making eye contact we burst out into laughter.
