Chapter 18: Perfectionist ②

Yan Yu stared at Chen Yifei blankly. He was truly confused. He couldn’t believe that he’d really be this unlucky.

Chen Yifei did not say anything else. Instead, he glared at Xu Yunfei, his expression dark. Xu Yunfei forced out a laugh as he drew back the corners of his mouth, his expression awkward. Chen Yifei said, “You should go.”

For some reason, even though Yan Yu was their superior, Xu Yunfei thought that Chen Yifei’s words had more force and authority. He nodded, tactful, and quickly waved for a taxi and hurried away.

Chen Yifei motioned for Yan Yu, “Get in the car.”

It had been a month. Their first meeting was, unexpectedly, not accompanied by a hug but an order in a cold voice. Yan Yu’s mouth twitched and he boarded the car.

He could clearly tell that Chen Yifei was, indeed, furious. His anger was not violent but oppressive and concentrated. Chen Yifei did not utter a single word throughout the trip. Although Yan Yu felt bad, he didn’t think he had done anything wrong, so he refused to speak stubbornly, as well.

When the two arrived at the office building, they entered the building one after the other. Yan Yu’s arrival caused quite a commotion in the company. The managers and board members never thought that the Chairman of the board would visit in person. Flustered, they made preparations to welcome him.

Initially, Yan Yu did not plan to come to the branch company. He knew that it would be a waste of manpower and resources if he came. Seeing the scene unfolding before him, he kept his mouth tightly closed, not speaking a single word.

Seeing that their boss seemed to be in a bad mood, the board members thought he was here to hold someone accountable for the issue with the samples last time, so they were all scared shitless. Not knowing what they should do, they all stood on the side, their eyes flickering to the experienced Chen Yifei, silently begging for help.

A board member walked up and spoke quietly to Chen Yifei, “Chief Chen! Why didn’t you tell us about Chairman Yan’s arrival? We didn’t prepare anything!”

Chen Yifei replied firmly, “There is no need to prepare anything.”

The board member was confused, “Huh?”

“I said, there is no need to prepare.”

Chen Yifei and Yan Yu returned to the office, leaving the group of board members, who had rushed to meet Yan Yu, in utter shock.

Yan Yu entered Chen Yifei’s office. Chen Yifei poured him a cup of tea and went back to his desk to organise his documents without saying anything else. Annoyed, Yan Yu asked, “Are you not even gonna ask why I’m here?”

Chen Yifei answered, “I know.”

Yan Yu couldn’t help it. “You know? You know everything.”

Chen Yifei suddenly carried a pile of documents over. Under Yan Yu’s astonished gaze, Chen Yifei put down the pile of documents heavily. Chen Yifei said, “Let’s talk about then, we can go back. I hope you can tell me all the potential risks and their solutions you have faced since you’ve started your own business.”

Yan Yu was speechless.

Chen Yifei added, “Please, teach me.”

Yan Yu, “And you said you know? My ass! I came all the way from miles away, just because I’m concerned about you! Even if you don’t care whether I’m here because of my concern for you or not, I would also like to take this opportunity to have a short holiday. And here you are, asking me to teach you about work?”
