Conjured-up

I speak words that have been spoken to me

My tongue forms sounds that have been sounded to me

My voice reads aloud what has been read aloud to me

Or maybe not read aloud at all.

Consonants that form in a conjured-up voice of my mind

Tangle and twist like pasta and try to make sense

Ingrain in my memory, form on my tongue

an alien, atrocious note, derogatory, stereotyped

of vowels, of sounds

that have and have not been sounded to me.
