Heroes
The "good guys"
The shining example of what we should all aspire to be
The ones that always saved the day
Or... at least...
That's how it used to be
It took only one night to change things forever, to turn the world into the barren wasteland it is today
This land ran by those left to claim it, with Death working around the clock to collect those fortunate enough, and those who remain fight just to see another day
Not everyone was old enough to remember how things used to be, and for some, this is all they've ever had. This was their home
You were one of those people
...
"Whoah there"
Your trusty mount stopped at the sound of your voice and a gentle pull on the reigns. Before you was a ravine, though not natural in origin. Your source was right, which only earned a sigh from you
This place was a whole town a week ago. And now? Just another hole in the ground
You: Those Moloids really are eating away at the world, aren't they...?
Then, you turned to your dinosaur (which you named Irene) as she kept her eyes on the massive hole
You walked to the bag she carried and put your hat in there before taking out a couple of things: A glowstick, another bag, and a cartridge
Once that was done, you turned to your friend and petted her
You: Stay here, alright? I won't be long
However, you only got a grumble as an answer
As you walked up to the edge, you rolled up one of your sleeves to reveal a small device on your wrist. You loaded the cartridge into it and let out a heavy breath
You: Alright. Here goes nothing
Without allowing yourself to think twice about it, you leaped into the darkness. The cold air immediately hit your face as you launched yourself into this unknown area hoping for the best, as this job often required you to
It didn't take long for you to find a rock coming out of the walls. It looked sturdy enough for you to use as a base, so you pressed a button on the device, and webbing shot out of it, latching into the rock and sending you swinging into it
You used your legs to slow yourself down once you made contact with it, and then let go of the web to slide your way down, making a small jump and roll to meet the ground safely
The eerie whistle of the wind became the new ambiance of these ruins. However, you didn't flinch at the sudden quiet, not the cold that became prominent here
But rather, you took out the glowstick and used it to guide you through the ruins of what was once a city
Luckily, there weren't any signs of the perpetrators. Maybe they went to sink another place? You could never be sure these days
In this world, one could hardly be as picky with what they wanted to be in life, but rather, what could allow them to survive
For you, it was the scavenger's life. Places like these were golden opportunities for you
But they also allowed you to know a bit more about your world
You climbed up a rock, leaped towards the roof of a car, and reached the ledge of a broken wall. When shone your glowstick on it, you could barely get the outlines of this place
