Maybe I should have said something before I have to much to say now

Kenma knew something was up, he wasn't sure what exactly was going on. But when he woke up earlier this morning, he was sure of it. Something was going to happen, something bad. Unexpected. Even as the day progressed, he couldn't shake it. His classmates saw it too, they noticed how panicked he was. Almost jumping out of his chair when the teacher called his name. Which had it been at a different time, or possibly a different student? Then the class would have broken down in laughter.

But they didn't, seeing the fear spread across his face. It brought the room to a silent pause, as Kenma apologized for startling everyone. But after that his usually lively class stayed dead silent for the remainder of the day.

Right when the bell rang signaling the school day was over, Kenma hurried out of the room. Running into Yamamoto, causing him to fall down.

"What's got you so excited today, Kenma?" Yamamoto asked, reaching his hand out to help the other up.

"Can't I be excited that school's over for the day?"

Yamamoto chuckled hearing that, pulling the other to his feet. "Fair, but we still have practice after this. Are you excited about that too?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

Kenma continued to shoot back arguments, each time Yamamoto said something. But they had fun joking around. Even when they walked into the gym, the other members of their team could tell that.

Then practice started, it was normal as always. But still the feeling he got before came back. He froze in place, staring down at an abandoned volleyball he had gone to pick up. He crouched down, moving to grab the ball. Yet right as he started to grab it, his hands started to shake.

"Kenma?" he turned looking around for the owner of the voice. It was Lev, standing behind him. Concern filled his voice as he spoke. "Are you okay? You've been staring at that volleyball for almost ten minutes."

"What?" Kenma shook his head. Moving to grab the ball and throwing it back towards the others. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little spaced out." he tried to laugh it off. But Lev didn't seem to believe him. He sighed knowing that Kenma wouldn't answer him and went to join the others.

At least that's what Kenma thought he was doing. It wasn't long before Yamamoto came to join him sitting down by the wall. He didn't say anything, so Kenma couldn't be sure that Lev actually said anything or not. But still he refused to acknowledge the others. Focusing on his phone, scrolling through a news article on his phone.

Something about a giant spaceship being seen in New York. people claiming it was an alien invasion. But from what he could tell, the post had to be almost a day ago. So, it could just be a movie being filmed, right? It's possible that they just forgot to warn the people who lived in that part of the city?

"Hey, whatcha looking at?" Yamamoto asked, peering over at Kenma's phone.

"It's just something about a giant spaceship." Kenma explained. "I don't think it really means anything though. You know how people can be, exaggerating everything."

"But what if it's real?"

"Then that's cool. Oikawa will be happy to hear that."

"Wait there's something else. It's some kind of emergency signal."

The entire gym echoed with the sound of phones going off. Even ones that were supposed to be completely turned off. Almost everyone, running over to see what caused it. But before they could, Nekomata called for their attention. Telling the group to come closer so they could hear what he said clearly. Kenma was hesitant to join, but he knew that would just cause unnecessary eyes looking at him.

"Something's happened," Nekomata started taking a deep breath before he started to read off the announcement. "They're unsure of what's caused this exactly but thousands of people have suddenly just turned to dust. No one can tell who's chosen by this sudden attack nor have they found a way to stop this.'' He stopped reading for a moment. Choking on his breath as he tried to continue.'

"Does it say anything about what happened to them? If they're still alive or not?" Yaku asked.

"It doesn't as far as I've read," he replied. Looking back at his phone for the spot he stopped reading. "All we can say is that-" he was cut off by a panicked scream.

All eyes shot back at Kenma, holding his arm. Dust falling from the tightly gripped arm. "No," he said quietly. Stepping closer to the group only to fall. His leg started to turn to dust just like his arm. Only this time at a much faster pace. "I-i can't go. I can't... I... I wanted to keep playing volleyball. I want to keep playing with everyone." he punched at the ground with his remaining hand. Tears appeared in his face.

Kuroo was next to him. The team waited close by watching, wanting to help. But they weren't sure how. He cried out, apologizing for anything he could think of. Wanting it to work. He knew it wouldn't, he just wanted it to.

But he kept his free hand launched onto Kuroo's arm. "I'm sorry." he said, looking up to meet Kuroo's eyes. "Guess, I won't be able to keep playing this year." he tried to laugh.

"Don't say that Kenma." Yamamoto whispered.

"Come on," Kenma's eyes shifted to Yamamoto. "You know it's true. But I'll be cheering you on. From wherever this takes me."

His face shifted to a tear-filled smile. And his arm fell to the ground in a cloud of dust. "I guess this is goodbye and thank you for every-"

He didn't get a chance to even finish his senate as his body was replaced completely by a large amount of dust.

It didn't take long for news about what happened to spread, other teams mentioned hearing about their members falling victim to the blip. But few except for Osamu, who had to watch as Atsumu faded, actually had to watch it happen. Karasuno lost, Kageyama, and Tanaka; meaning that the energetic second year duo was no more. And their impressive fit year duo was the same.

It was actually relieving to hear that. They didn't have to watch as friends faded possibly forever, but then again. They also didn't get to hear what their friends last said. Only messages from their families, relaying the last message to the teams.

But they did still keep playing, wanting to keep the memory of their teammates alive. But in the end, Karausno met up with Nekoma. Both teams played as strong as they could to win. But in the end, Nekoma won. Kuroo remembered looking up at the sky and practically screaming at it. "Are you proud Kenma? D-did you have fun watching the match?"

But that dad was five years ago. Five years since Nekoma had to watch as Kenma faded, turning to dust. Five years since the all out battle between Nekoma and Karasuno to win the national volleyball game. Which meant it was two years after the first years graduated. But even after that, they still kept in touch, finding it strange not too. It also led to them meeting up when they had time. But on one specific day their old coach called them back to the Nekoma's gym.

It was a little meetup, as most would call it. Even though they technically didn't need to, having already done something like this almost every other week. But today was different, the coach didn't explain why. But said he had a feeling something big was going to happen today. This time it was a good feeling though.

Walking into the gym, Kuroo was the last to arrive. Seeing the others already talking among themselves, but when Yamamoto called for their attention. It seemed like time stopped. "They found a way to reverse the blip!"

So that means everyone who was affected should be coming back, right?" Kai asked.

"And that means..." Yaku trailed off, his eyes catching a slight movement from outside the gym. But then the doors opened slightly, the same seventeen-year-old Kenma stood there. His old uniform and everything. But he avoided looking up, instead he slowly walked up to Kuroo and hugged him.

"Yes, I'm proud of you," he said, making Kuroo think back to his words from that day. "I'm proud of all of you."
