Chapter 72: New Mission and Brotherly Protectiveness

Naruto is now officially enrolled into the academy. With that in mind, I've decided to take up missions again. But, I still had another issue on my hands.

"Kurenai! What am I supposed to do!" I spoke panicked.

"Calm down!" Kurenai responded as she grabbed my hands. "You have to tell me what happened first."

I nodded and took a deep breath.

"So, Gai and I were training a couple days ago and we decided to go for sparring sooner. We added stakes to it. He said that if he won he gets a kiss from me. I ended up losing since my mind was in the gutter and I had to kiss him. But I kissed him on the forehead cause he didn't say where, then next thing I know he pulls me in for an actual kiss!" I explained and began to catch my breath a bit. "But after that kiss, I pulled him in again for another and....things were getting intense!....So I ran...."

"You ran?!" Kurenai spoke surprised.

"Look! In hindsight it wasn't the best idea but I was scared!" I told her. "Did he put that stake just for fun, or does he know I like him, or does he like me!? I don't know!"

"You haven't talked to him since?" Kurenai questioned.

"No.....I expected he would come talk to me at some point but he's on a mission right now..." I replied.

"Oh boy..." Kurenai replied and pinched the bridge of her nose. "You are so oblivious when it comes to feelings."

"Huh...." I spoke confused.

"Kira....I'm gonna say this nice and slow so that you won't panic," Kurenai said and put her hands on my shoulders. "Gai likes you more....than a friend."

I stared at her and my face became completely red. I was trying not to panic and just nodded.

"I think you two should talk about this when he gets back from his mission," Kurenai suggested.

"Okay...." I replied softly, still trying calm down to unredden my face.

"Alright. You've got this," Kurenai replied with a smile. "Plus, he's liked you for as long as I can remember, so there's no way he'll say no if you ask him out."

"He's liked me....for so long?!" I spoke surprised. "I had no idea."

"Well, how long have you liked him?" Kurenai questioned.

I sat there twiddling my fingers. "Maybe for a few years..."

"You both like each other. Doesn't matter how long," Kurenai said. "I'm surprised that you would fall for...well...Gai."

"Why do you say that?" I asked curiously.

"Cause he's a bit much sometimes and loud," Kurenai pointed out. "He's my friend, I'm just talking from a different perspective."

"Well, Gai is really sweet and kind. He can be loud but I like his optimism....and he's....pretty strong....and warm," I murmured as I began to space out.

"Oh boy. You like him a lot," Kurenai murmured. "Do you ever think you had a crush on him when you were kids? Just curious."

"Hmmmm. Maybe..." I murmured. "I don't think that was what I was focused on though."

Kurenai nodded and then we heard a knock at the door.

"Maybe it's him," Kurenai suggested.

"No. This person's heart beat is too calm," I responded and walked to the door.

"You and heartbeats," Kurenai stated with a chuckle.

"I just have better sense of them since I unlocked my Kekkei Genkai," I explained and then opened the door to see Kakashi. "Oh. Hi Kakashi!"
