A breakfast to remember

It was a Saturday morning. The birds were singing and the sunlight beamed through the window, painting Daniels brown skin a golden hue. Fin couldn't help but stare in admiration at his loving boyfriend, taking in his features as if it was his first time seeing him. To Fin, every day with Daniel felt no different than the day they first met, though it'd been over a year or so ago when Fin had finally mustered up the courage to ask his future boyfriend on a date. To this day, he still  found  himself staring in awe and disbelief that he was able to score someone like him.

He still remembered the day they met like it was yesterday -- a day similar to this. Daniel was working at a laundry store, it was his second day when Fin first saw him. Since Daniel was still new to the job (and very much uneducated on the machinery) he had managed to get himself hooked onto the clothing line which was used to hang damp clothing  and would rotate in a big circle around the entire building. Because of this, daniel was being dragged throughout the entire store for a good five minutes before Fin was able to finally get him down. (Luckily, it was a small store..)  It was the funniest thing Fin had ever witnessed, and for Daniel? He didn't like talking about it.
Even so, Fin would frequently bring up the memory, quickly bursting into a fit of laughter before he was even halfway finished. Though Daniel was embarrassed by the memory, he still got a kick out of seeing Fin laugh so hard, so it was never really much of an issue.

The blonde boy chuckled to himself upon reminiscing the memorable time before carefully slipping out of bed so as not to disturb the sleeping Daniel, who lay comfortably on his side with his face mashed deep into the pillow. After double checking that his boyfriend was sound asleep, Finnel made his way downstairs  and into the kitchen to prepare a cup of coffee for the both of them. Normally, it was Daniel who would wake Fin up with breakfast in bed, but today was an important day for them and he felt the need to impress his beloved. What day, you may ask? Why, its their anniveresry, you stupid little shits!

Here lies the big question, though.. What was Fin going to make? Normally, he would have went for crapes, but those felt a little too basic. Omelette? Too bland.. Pancakes?

Pancakes! That's it! You could never go wrong with pancakes.. That was according to Fin, at least.. Little did he know how purely and utterly wrong he would be in just a couple of minutes.

...

It wasn't much after when the boy had finished preparing a perfect mise en plas. He couldn't help but gawk at this fine masterpiece, thinking to himself about how professional it appeared. Though he knew this would include washing more dishes than he would have liked to, he figured it was all worth it. After all, this was going to be the best breakfast they've ever tasted, and gosh darn it he'd be lying if he said he wasnt going to put his heart and soul into this. With a cooking book in hand, he began to throw the ingredients together.

... His first mistake was starting before reading the directions thoroughly.

...
*in the spongebob narrators voice* 10 minutes later...

Fin was running around manically, his fingers brushing through his hair as he panicked on what to focus on first; The spilt milk on the floor or the burning pancakes on the stove.

"Oh god, OHGOD, NO,  THE BATTER-- Aweee, shit!!"  The boy whined, watching the batter spill from the pot all over the counter. He had accidentally bumped his elbow into it from his pacing. Quickly, he set the pot upright once more before realizing it had managed to get all over his clothing as well.
He took a deep, deep breath.
"This is okay," He spoke to himself, "It was only a little bit.. I still have plenty of batter...left.." Suddenly, he stopped what he was doing...  He began sniffing the air, his head perking up like a prerrie dog, almost immedietly recognizing the smell.
