Epilogue

"Oh my..." The elderly woman leans back in her chair, her eyes staring at the doll in pity.

"The poor thing, how could a cure not have been found?" She whispers to Calcifer who merely munched on his wood.

"It was never written down. Whoever created the spell became victim to it. She knew that and chose to make Howl and Markl happy instead of fighting the inevitable." Calcifer explains, his eyes staring at the doll longingly. The next words he utters, he whispers "I miss her too"

"Me too," Markl whispers, his eyes building up tears "I know Howl does too"

"Oh Calcifer....Markl.." Sophie trails with a sad tone, her gaze never leaving the doll.

"It's alright!" Markl pipes up once more grinning up at Sophie, though his grin didn't reach his eyes, she understood he was trying to be strong.

She delicately places her hand on top of the doll's resting hand "It would be wonderful if you were alive once more...perhaps Howl would be different.."

"You understand why he was mad now, right?" Calcifer questions, looking at Sophie now rather than (Y/N) who sat lifeless.

"Yes, I understand but I still don't think it is something to get so worked up over" She huffs crossing her arms "I was just trying to clean"

"But if she were damaged from being moved it could risk anything if she were brought back to life" Markl points out, causing Sophie's eyes to widen in surprise.

"You're right" She nods in agreement turning to Markl who had begun to talk once more.

"Plus. (Y/N) was the first girl to ever love Howl for who he was" Markl replies, looking down at his hands which rested on his knees "Despite knowing he was an unloyal man who broke hearts for fun, she grew to love the true side of him he hid away from her. She only learned he cared through clues."

It grew quiet as everyone turned to face the doll again.

"For Howl..." Calcifer speaks up, taking over the words Markl spoke "She was the first girl to make him feel something. To be able to love strong enough, despite his hea-"

Calcifer caught himself giving Sophie an awkward grin "He loved her enough to stop his ways despite what I hold of his which would be deemed impossible"

"So that's why the rumors of him went silent for about four months before starting again!" Sophie notes, her voice slightly louder than usual.

"Ah well yes" Markl squeaks "I actually am the one to start the rumors....I did so in order to warn women just incase"

Sophie let out a laugh, patting Markl on the head "What a smart boy you are. To think of that to protect others"

"Let me just say," Calcifer adds, to clear up a little bit "The spell he is under makes it difficult to feel the emotions of love..."

"Is there a way to break the spell?" Sophie questions as Markl leans forward with slight hope in his eyes.

"For Howl...No. (Y/N) was the only one who could break it" Calcifer sighs "She wasn't ever burned by my flames, so she was the only one who could do it"

"But," He speaks causing Sophie to perk up. "If you can figure out a way to get her back and break her spell, to have her break Howl's....I can help you with the little curse your under"

"Sophie, you're under a curse?" Markl questions, looking at her in surprise. All Sophie could do was nod solely. Markl frowns slightly, inching away from her out of fear.

"I'm going to my room" Markl states, shuffling up the stairs, looking at Sophie with caution yet intrigue.

Sophie sighed, turning her gaze away from Markl and back to the doll. She places her hand on top of the doll once more, closing her eyes with a sad smile "You should be here now, even for a short moment. They miss you"

Her eyes snapped open at the feeling of something twitching under her hand. Removing her hand she sees as a small movement from the doll's hands leaping back in shock.

Slowly the doll gains movement, a smile resting on her porcelain face.

Calcifer's eyes grew wide at the scene before him as he uttered two words.

"Holy sh-"
