He let out cry after cry for his mother, but only silence would respond. He was almost halfway covered in snow before he could just faintly hear the crunching of multiple paw steps.
He cried out over the harsh winds and suddenly the paw steps stopped. He could hear the murder of cats talking only fox lengths away. He sneeze and tucked his muzzle into his paws as he shivered uncontrollably.
Then he heard a toms voice.
"Hello...?" It called out loudly. He let out another new to indicate he was there. Then a shadow fell over him. The males voice rang much clearer now, "Hey, guys! There's a kit in here! It looks half dead." More paw steps came scrambling over.
"Is it alive..?" One asked. He let out a weak, shaky mew. "Just barely..." The tom said darkly. "We have to get it to the medicine den come on." Without waiting for a response, Caleum was scooped up in the toms jaws as he started to make his way through the snow.
'where is he taking me?' he wondered, scared. He was to weak to struggle but that didn't stop him from trembling. Was he taking him somewhere safe? Was- was he going to kill him? And eat him for food like his mother had told him?

After a bit the kit seemed to pass out from the cold. The tom carried his limp body towards camp which was just starting to become visible in the darkness. He weakly stumbled forward, his clan mates immediately by his side to help him. "Here let me take the kit." One of his clan mates offered and he reluctantly let her take it.
He slid into the camp entrance with his patrol right behind him and lead the she cat with the kit towards a dark, rocky den with moss in swirls on the outside walls. The hit was hurried into the den and set down on a soft nest. Immediately a pretty dark brown tabby eye-catching trotted over with herbs.
"Frostbite... And cold..." She mutters then turned to the two cats from the patrol. First she locked eyes with the tom. "Falconsky, curl around him and keep him warm." She ordered then turned to the she cat. "Dawnash, fetch Cedarwisp, he needs milk, quickly!" She said loudly. Falconsky curled around the kit tightly, his tail place over its back.
He waited anxiously for Cedarwisp, tapping his paw on the ground. Only a few moments later the queen darted in. The seeming medicine cat directed her to the kit and Falconsky quickly moved. Cedarwisp curled around it and it slowly awoke to the scent of milk.
The kit weakly turned towards her and started to suckle. Just then a curious tom kit stuck his head in the den. "What's going on?" He asked energetically, starting to jump around the den. "Darkkit!" Falconsky sighed as he looked down on his son.
"Nothing going on in here... Come on lets go play outside." He suggested and Darkkit nodded happily. "Okay!" He squealed running out, his father on his tail.
"kits... Always so nosy..." The dark brown tabby she cat sighed, shaking her head. Cedarwisp laughed softly. "I couldn't agree more." Cedarwisp then looked down at the tom kit. "well... What are we going to do with him? It's not like we can just leave him out there in the blizzard to die.."
The medicine cat thought for a moment. "We have no other choice to to let him join the clan.. Of course we have to ask Sunstar first but.. He wouldn't turn down an innocent kit would he?" Cedarwisp nodded. "I hope not..." The medicine cat nodded. "Ill go and ask right now u just keep the kit as warm as possible." The medicine cat ordered then slipped out the den.
She made her way to a tree stump surrounded by reeds. "Sunstar?" She called from the outside and a muffled "come in," was heard. She padded inside and sat down. "What do you need Oakleaf?" Oak leaf looked Sunstar in the eyes.
"Falcon sky's patrol was about to head back to camp when they came across and abandoned, dying kit. They took it back and now Cedarwisp's suckling it and keeping it warm. Since the kit dosnt have a home and we can't just leave it out to die... Could we let it join the clan..?" She questioned.
Sunstar took a moment to think. "Well... I don't see why not. Were not a ruthless clan like... Some... Others are.."
Oakleaf smiled and nodded. "I'll go announce it right now." Sunstar stood and made his way out the den, Oakleaf right behind him.
Sunstar leaped atop the wet rock and called for the clan. "All cats old enough to swim the rapids, come join me below the wet rock for a clan meeting!" He yowled. Cats gathered around the wet rock slowly but surely. "we are welcoming a new member to the clan today-" he was cut off as loud Murmurs broke out in the crowd.
Sun star waited for them all to quiet down before speaking again. "Falconsky's patrol found an abandoned tom kit and I plan to take it in. They may not be clan born, but its less then a moon old, so at least its not used to the kittypet or rouge life. It'll be just like a newborn kit of Riverclan." Sunstar then turned to Cedarwisp who was now laying just outside the medicine den to watch the meeting, the kit still curled up at her side.
"Cedarwisp, could you name and take care of the kit till its ready to become an apprentice?" He asked the queen. She smiled warmly and nodded. "With my kits out of the nursery I've started to get a little lonely."

Sunstar nodded to her in thanks. "Do you know what you will name the kit?" He asked curiously. She looked down at the kit with thoughtful eyes for a moment. "Nightkit." She announced to the clan.
"His name will be ℕ𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕜𝕚𝕥..."
