Drifting

Dark drips dribble down my window pane

As I draw the deep red curtains,

Shutting out the dreary damp

And rippling waves of warmth across the room.

I slunk across the carpet,

The fuzz fondling my feet

As soft towelling hugs my waist.

I slip it off and pull back the cover.

How glorious! The warmth of my body beneath the blankets!

My eyelids flutter

And I,

Drunk with the delirium of drowsiness,

Sink into the sheets
