Chapter 2

He's fast. Is he using movement-increasing magic? William questioned.

No..it's just that his physical ability is that good. Yami finished, understanding what exactly William was thinking.

With a fast strike, Asta slammed down what seemed to be a large sword that completely broke the shield and slammed his opponent into the ground..

Everyone paused in shock, questioning how exactly somebody like Asta was able to defeat his opponent with no magic.

That book...why does it look familiar... Sua thought in silence, clearly confused as to where she had seen that book before.

"I'm not here just to join the Magic Knights and have a blast without putting in any effort. I'm here to work my butt off and become the Wizard King." Asta declared to the arena.

Yami smirked towards Asta, gaining interest in him as he is vastly different from everybody in the exam.

Asta! The one who's going to beat you is me! Yuno declared to himself, smiling for the first time since being in the exam as his rival is proving his ambition.

Third Person POV

After Asta's victory, the gossiping of the crowd soon drowned out as everyone realized that eventually they needed to showcase their combat skills.

Sua had been restless as she awaited Yuno's battle, wanting to see how capable he was with how the previous tests had gone for him.

The captains had taken notice of this as they all had their fair share of Sua running around, clearly impatient as this exam had been taking so long.

Finally, Sua stopped in her place in front of William as she kneeled, peeking over the railing in excitement as she saw a snobby noble approach Yuno.

As soon as everybody turned their attention towards the main stage, Yuno had already grabbed his grimoire out as he ignored small talk. Murmuring aloud, Yuno summoned what seemed to be a giant tornado out in an instant, knocking out his opponent instantly.

Everyone on the higher levels were stunned, clearly having high expectations but not expecting this to have happened.

In an instant, Sua and William both had made their decision.

"And that marks the end of the examination. Now, each examinee will come forward when their number is called out. The squad captains will raise their hand if they wish to have you join their team." William explained as all of the fights were finished.

"It is up to the examinee to accept the offer or not. And if more than one captain raises their hand, it is up to the examinee to choose. However as mentioned before, if there are no takers the examinee will not be able to join the Magic Knights." Sua finished, finally taking her place next to William as they prepared to announce the results.

"Examinee number one, please step forward."

"Number 78, The Crimson Lion Kings."

"Number 116, no offers."

"Number 141, no offers."

"I guess I should have expected it." The contestant sighed, clearly understanding why they had not been picked.
