Bottlecap mine's and MacCready go brrrr

MacCready is always going on about his need for caps and such. It's got me wondering, just how far will he go for caps? I can just hear the man going on and on about why bottle cap mines are stupid as hell and why would you waste caps.

So I'd like to imagine that despite his hatred for them, they have been countless times where MacCready has gotten his hands on a few battle caps mine and has attempted to, ya'know, defuse them.

Keyword, attempted, he has yet to succeed on his own, any time has been able to crack on open it was been with the help of others, whether or not he likes it.

And so this brings me to my next "companion headcanons" post, how the companions go about helping poor ol'Mac open up a bottle cap mine.

Cait-Plops it out into an open field.Throws rock and whatever she can get her hands on.Eventually something will hit it and cause it to explode.Once it exploded, she leaves Mac to pick up all the caps off the ground.Codsworth-He surprisingly knows how to diffuse a bomb and will graciously do such without a hitch.He won't lecture Mac on how to diffuse the mine, he rather enjoys the activity. Curie-She doesn't now how to diffuse a bomb, it wasn't something she was taught.Curiosity kill the cat. Safe to say, her and Mac aren't allowed to diffuse bombs or mines unless they are heavily supervised. Will learn how to diffuse bomb since it's spiked her curiosity.While trying to learn how to diffuse bombs, she'll create makeshift bombs and mines and will force Macready to learn with her in the art of diffusion.Everyone's not really sure how to feel about Curie making bombs so easily and frequently. No one has any idea where she's getting the materials from and if they are any good. Danse-Despite his military lifestyle and training, he doesn't actual know how to diffuse a mine. This shocked everyone.If Mac goes to Danse after he's asked Curie and Danse gets wind that Curie is attempting to learn how to diffuse a mine, he will attend those session. He's very hands on.If Mac goes to Danse before Curie, Danse will load up on stims and whatever other health items needs he'll face and just activate the mine, he has yet to exploded along with the mine but he take a portion of the caps as payment so he can fix his pa.Deacon-Why would you allow this? This could go very badly.Deacon will take the mine before he goes out on a mission and he promises that he'll use it and salvage the caps when it explodes.He tends to forget where he actual placed the mines so scattered about the commonwealth are active bottlecap mines just waiting for some unlucky sole to walk by.He's in a lot debt.Hancock-Why would you allow this? This could go very badly 2.0Similar to Deacon, he'll take the mines with him but will bring Mac along for the ride. Seeking out a group of raiders or whatever threatens them commonwealth.If they are lucky, he activates it and hides it and within a few mintues, it's raining caps. And body's, let's not forget that.Mac prefers this method, seeing as how many of the body's tend to have more caps on them.Nick-Surprise surprise, he can defuse the mine without a hitch.Nick will always show the steps of how he does this, this is the 10th time he has had to show Mac how to diffuse a mine.Mac tires to understand what Nick is saying but he just can't understand.Nick has started charging Mac for his time.Piper-Are you kidding her? She's crazy but not that crazy to tried and diffuse a heckin bomb.She's got connections.Aka Nick.Preston-Shooting practice.
