Omniscient POV
The moment Ferguson said Arielle's name Imani froze like a deer in headlights and fainted. One of the nurses was able to grab Sunshine while the doctor and Ferguson helped sit her in chair while another nurse brought her water and a fan. She was beginning to wake up back as her name was being called.
"Imani. Imani. Imani." Ferguson spoke softly
Opening her eyes and adjusting to the light Imani started looking confused.
"What happened?" As she saw the nurse checking her vitals
"You fainted Mani. That's what happened. You gave me a scare." Ferguson spoke
"Where's Sunshine?" She asked
"She's in the lobby with the nurse. It was best that she shouldn't see you like this." He told her
"Alright Miss Jameson, you're good to go. But you need to drink this water for me." The nurse told her
"Thank you." She replied as she drank the water
Ferguson sat next to her and Imani laid on his shoulder as she spoke
"Uncle Richard I just don't understand how this could happen. Who would do something like this!? Arielle doesn't bother anybody!" Imani spoke as she started crying causing Ferguson to wrap his arm around her shoulder
"Imani you know I promised your parents before they died that I would always look out for you girls and I'm keeping that promise. Whoever did this, we will find them and make sure that they receive the punishment they deserve." He told her with a strong reassurance
Before Imani could speak, the doctor came back out.
"Captain Ferguson, Detective Jameson great news. Miss Richardson is awake. She agreed to allow us to conduct the rape kit so the nurse is getting that prepared. If you want you can go in and see her." He told them
"Thank you doctor." Imani replied
"Listen, why don't you go on in and I'll go get Sunshine and bring her to you." Ferguson told her
"Thank you." She replied and she headed towards the room Arielle was in. She stopped before going in and looked through the window seeing Arielle watching TV. She said a silent prayer before knocking on the door
Arielle's POV
Never in a million years would I have thought that someone would want to take advantage of me. I'm not a bad person, I do right by people. I don't even bother anyone. I pay my tithes! But yet here I am, laying in this hospital bed because I'm now a rape victim.
I know Imani is worried out of her mind about me. It's one thing to not show up for dinner, but to not answer my phone or texts is another. Knowing her she's probably searching all over the state of Georgia right now.
Most rape victims become closed off and fall into depression or even commit, if you know what I mean. But me, nope. Even with going in and out consciousness I was praying that God keep my mind. I also prayed for my rapist, go figure. One part of me wants him to suffer but the Christian side of me just wants to forgive. But the one thing that's been bothering is that after he was "finished" I heard him say, "You can thank Imani for what happened to you." I want to tell her. I am going to tell her. I continued to lay there watching TV, Fresh Prince of Bel Air was on when I heard a knock on the door.
*knock knock*
"Come in." I told the person on the other side. It was Imani and I could tell she had been crying
"Come on Mani Pooh." I told her moving over making room for her to sit down
Still silent she sat down and laid on my shoulder. I soon felt her tears on my shoulder.
"Get it all out." I told her
*5 minutes later*
"Have you cried your last tear?" I asked her
"Yes I think so." She said wiping her face
"Good. Because from this point we will not linger on the past. So whatever guilt you're feeling, get rid of it. This isn't your fault. It isn't mine." I told her
"But what about the person that did this to you?" She asked me
"You and Uncle Richard will do what needs to be done, I'm sure of it. But I will say that I want to be there when you do catch him." I replied
Before Imani could continue, the nurse knocked and walked in
"Hi Miss Richardson, I'm here to administer the rape kit." The nurse spoke
"I'll step outside." Imani told me
"Uh is it okay if she stays?" I asked the nurse
"If she wants. I don't mind." The nurse replied
"Please?" I asked giving the eyes
"Sure." She said sitting in a chair and holding my hand in the process.
Once the nurse finished, I was checked and given the clear to go home. Of course Imani wasn't allowing me to go home and if it's one thing that I learned is to not argue with a detective. Uncle Richard decided to follow us to the house since he still had Sunshine. We arrived and while Imani put Sunshine to bed, I went and showered. That also gave me time to release my emotions. I promised myself that I was only going to cry once, because lingering on this will only make it worse.
*30 minutes later*
I was freshly showered and dressed in pajamas and I made my way downstairs to see that Uncle Richard had made some Chamomile Tea. I went and sat next to Mani on the couch as he brought it to us
"Okay girls, I made this. Should help you both sleep." Richard spoke handing them the cups
"Thank you." We both replied
"With that being said, I'm gonna head out. I don't want your aunt to be worried too much. But I'll make sure she'll stop by tomorrow though." He told us kissing is on the foreheads
"Thank you Uncle Richard for everything." I told him smiling
"Like I told Imani earlier, I made a promise and I'm gonna stick with it." He replied
"Yes sir." I spoke
"See you girls tomorrow." He told us walking out and locking the door behind him
Imani went to turn on the alarm and we sat and drank our tea before finally heading to bed. Of course we prayed. Praying for better days and the things to come
