They helped each other defeat whatever was in their way to freedom.
Alex didn't know why but..
He didn't want to hurt Kate.
Kate was his friend.
He promised Kates father he wouldn't hurt Kate.
He doesn't wanna break that promise and loose her fathers trust.
He asked Pico not to hurt Kate.
If hurting Kate meant being killed by her father..
Than Alex didn't wanna break that promise.
Same for Pico.
He made a promise to Alex that he wouldn't go against him and his decisions.
So if going against Alex meant he wouldn't be his BF.
Than Pico would rather die.
He would slowly die.
Starving himself to death.
Thinking about Alex everyday.
Knowing he wouldn't trust him anymore.
Knowing no one would trust him after that.
After all..
Alex IS Kates best friend.
If Alex told Kate what happened.
Kate would tell everyone what Alex told her.
And would tell everyone to stay away from Pico and to not trust him.
And everyone would listen.
Her father rules that land.
No one would go against her father.
One thing they don't know...
That Pico and Alex does...
Is that Kates father is a good man.
He would never harm anyone.
In any way.
But Kate would.
And Kate could make her father kill Alex.
All because he broke a promise.
So he doesn't wanna break that promise.
And doesn't wanna get hurt.
