Prologue

(Before anything, everyone reading this must know that I'm doing this cause I can. It's just for fun as well as I take the responsibility for making stories that may or may not be in the back of the minds of all us guys out there(if you're not gay or LGBTQ status). Also uploading schedules are non existent here, if I don't have an idea I won't post but if I do then I will. But if y'all have any ideas for any of my upcoming books or something I could add then feel free to say so cause it might help with the process. Anyways, with that out of the way, enjoy the book)

Pov:
(One week before the outbreak)

Y/N was a regular young adult in Rayford, Georgia(I googled where it takes place so please don't hate me if it isn't). He was with his group of friends after a short day of work. This friend group consisted of Ellie and Mark

They were walking around the town, talking and randomly racing each other, when they stopped at a park to just chill. It was close to 8:00 P.M and Y/N had work tomorrow

Y/N: So, what do y'all wanna do now?

Mark: How about another race, winner gets the loser to pay for whatever they want

Y/N: Really? Again? You already owe me like 6 things

Mark: 5 things, I got you Takis yesterday

Y/N: Whatever hijo de puta(for those who don't know Spanish it means son of a bitch)

Y/N as he chuckled lightly at his own remark

Mark: Hey! You know I don't know Spanish, What the fuck did you say!?

Y/N shrugged his shoulders with a smirk on his face

Mark: Anyway! To the gate and back, two times

Y/N nodded, got up from the ground and took off his shoes

Mark and Y/N got ready while Ellie got in front of them like a standing starter and counted

Ellie: Are you ready?

Both contestants nodded

Ellie: 3..........

The two had their heads up straight

Ellie: 2..........

They got into a racers starting position

Ellie: 1...........

A smirk was plastered onto Y/N face as well as Mark

Ellie: GO...........

The two then bolted to the gate while being neck and neck

At the halfway mark, Y/N was running faster while Mark tried his best

Y/N made it to the gate and made a B-line to Ellie, after a couple seconds Mark did the same

Y/N ran to Ellie when he saw huge tree root emerge from the darkness

Y/N: "I guess I can show off a bit"

Thought Y/N as he ran straight to it and right as he was about to run into it, he front flipped into the air and land back down onto his feet and continued the race

Mark was right behind him but hadn't seen that tree root so he stumbled but he made sure not to fall and continued running but he was behind

Y/N eventually made it to Ellie and gunned it back to the gate

While Y/N was running back to the gate, he passed Mark and saw he was 3/4 of the way to Ellie so Y/N pushed himself to run as fast as he can and touched the gate but with his feet
