"No!" Harley yells and jolts awake, gasping for air. She bolts upright, pushing the blanket off of herself, breathing heavily. She glances around their dark room at Galavan's tower, taking in her surroundings and relaxes. "It didn't happen, it didn't happen....." She repeatedly whispers to herself.
The city lights beamed into the massive window, silencing the stars in the night sky. She turns her head to the clock on the bedside table. It reads, 3:15 am. She gives a sigh of relief, glad that there's enough time to fall back asleep. She quietly stands up and lightly steps over to the glass transparent wall covering half of the room.
The street was many, many stories down. Small cars that looked like the size of plastic toys drove about, all with their own stories. She presses her hand up against the glass, leaning all her weight on it. If anyone happened to be peering out the building across from theirs, they would end up seeing a fully nude Harley, but she didn't care at all.
"Harley?" A muffled voice says her name from the bed. She spins herself back in that direction. Jerome can be seen with his face smothered into a pillow, quieting his voice. "What are you doing up?"
"Had a nightmare..." She dryly answers. He slowly sits up and walks over to her. He puts his elbow against the glass, pressed between his forehead and the window. He puts his weight on it, similar to her, not caring about the height. Although her eyes connect with his, her mind is somewhere else.
"Want to talk about it?" He asks, hushly. She remains silent and doesn't move her eyes away from him. Unexpectedly, she pleasantly surprises him by responding.
"Galavan.....he...." She moves her hand up and rubs her throat. "He killed me.....I don't trust him." She finally breaks her gaze and turns to the street below the both of them. She pushes a strand of frizzy damaged pink hair behind her ear.
"If it makes you feel any better, I don't trust the fucker either." He shrugs. His eyes slowly open and close, exposing his drowsiness. She turns to him confused.
"Well then why are we still here?" She shakes her head, disapprovingly. She walks back over to the bed, and sprawls out on the sheets. "We should just get out of here, y'know?" She stares up at the ceiling above the large bed.
"Oh trust me I'm planning on it. Not for a little while though. Just give it some time." He reassures her. He spins himself to face her, leaning his back against the glass now, while crossing his arms. She nods her head, agreeing to his plan. A few minutes of silence pass.
"I have something that I need to confess." She manages to say. That took a lot of effort. Something was eating away at her, and she needed to tell him before they became too close in the normal relationship style.
"Oh yeah? What am I your priest now? I mean....I'm up for trying new stuff, but calling me Father in bed is one I did not think of." He laughs. She wants to keep the conversation on the serious side, but she can't help but smile herself.
"C'mon Jerome, I'm serious though." She rolls onto her side. "I did something bad to you. And I want us to be on the same page, no stupid secrets." He slowly sits down on the mattress next to her.
"Go on then..." He sighs. Whatever she was going to say, he couldn't see himself getting upset with her. He couldn't picture that happening between them. They used to fight all the time before that night she convinced him to kill his mother, but ever since then they've only gotten along perfectly.
"I got Isabelle killed." Her eyes lock with his. There's an intense silence shared between them. Harley has never felt such utter horror in her life, as her heart rate quickens the more seconds that go on. Then something that Harley least expected happened. He starts to laugh hysterically.
