England, 1574, October 14th
"Oi Captain, can you try to trade this on your way to the 'New World?' I will give you 60% of the money." A man offered a necklace to the blonde pirate who went by the name "Dream."
"Sure mate, how much are you selling for?" The pirate asked, fixing the mask on his face. Dream always wore a while circle mask with a black smile painted on. He remained faceless, but one of the most feared Pirates of the century.
Dream, despite being a Pirate, did more than steal from other ships and cause chaos in other places. He also traded with other countries, which was another way he got so popular. Even though Dream was trusted by many, he was feared by everyone, even the people who trusted him.
His crew were ruthless and unpredictable. One moment Dream was shaking your hand on a deal, the next moment he forced you to watch as he sliced your mother's throat. People called him bipolar and crazy, but this was his way that he kept control. And no one bothered to argue.
Dream was about to set sail for the New World and some people were coming up to him and asking if he could try to sell their items for a high price at the mysterious continent across the sea. He accepted most of the offers, considering he got more benefit from the items than the actual sellers.
"Captain, we are going to set off in approximately 5 minutes." Dream's first mate, Sapnap, informed him. Sapnap was quite peculiar, he was a fire elf, the rarest of its kind. He was the strongest fire elf known to history. Fire elves were able to manipulate fire with their minds, but it depends on how strong the power was when they were born. Sapnap was rumored to have been born from the deepest pits of hell. That wasn't true, but rumors were always fun, and it made Dream's crew seem even more powerful and fearless.
Most of Dream's crew consisted of elves, shape shifters, teleporters, and other beings. Obviously, there were humans too, but not as many. Dream was human, the only reason why he hasn't been betrayed by his crew is because of how loyal they are to each other.
You see, with other crews, everyone despises each other. Everyone in Dream's crew were a big family; a family of misfits. That is what made their bond so strong, their loyalty and love.
Dream nodded, "I'll be there in a few seconds." And dismissed the black haired elf with a wave. "I'll sell this for 300 gold coins, $10,000 in bronze just in case there isn't any in the New World." The man said, placing the necklace that he was selling in Dream's palm.
"Deal." Dream responded, turning around and carelessly shoving the accessory in one of his pockets.
"Hey Dream, we are setting sail now, you should get on the wheel." Wilbur, the ship's alchemist and doctor suggested, fixing the round glasses which rested on his nose. Dream nodded, "Of course, thanks Will." He replied and walked up to the wheel of the ship where he could see a vast, and beautiful view of the blue ocean ahead of him.
Normally whenever they leave, the people on dock would cheer the boat on its journey to the unexplored continent they always went to, but the crew never waved back. Another way of upholding their power, seeming careless but coordinated.
As they left the dock, the cheering and whistling faded away into silence, and Dream was able to relax. Although he always had a very long day of steering his ship ahead of him, he never seemed to mind it. It calmed him and allowed his thoughts to wander. Allowing him to get lost inside his own head.
The crew was very smart when it came to ships. Whenever they would eat dinner or fish for some food, they lowered the anchor to prevent the boat from moving. Obviously, they ate seafood every day. Sometimes they got big fish, like a swordfish, and sometimes the best they got was about fish the size of small salmon.
"LOWER THE ANCHOR, TIME TO GET FISHING FOR DINNER!" Dream announced, yelling loudly with one hand directing the steering wheel.
"AYE CAPTAIN," Someone below shouted back. Many grunts later, the ship jerked and came to a stop. Dream sighed, taking his hands off the wheel and stuffing them in his pockets.
He walked down to the main area, good job men, and women, I expect a feast of fish tonight." Dream said, nodding at a woman with pink hair, Niki, an elf who was the fishing director. She was an expert fisherman- well, fisherwoman. Top of her class, as well as an excellent fighter.
Niki, a man named Jack, and Ponk threw the fishing net over the side as Dream walked to his cabin. Each crew member shared a room with 4 others, Dream was the only one who had a room to himself. Which was obvious, because he was the captain of the ship.
He opened the door and found Karl standing at his desk, clutching a map. Karl was an elf who could time travel, but he wasn't too powerful. Sadly, he could only travel 20 minutes or less back in time and a few seconds forward into the future.
Karl was also very good with mapping, making him the ship's direction teller almost. "Hello Captain, so I would like to talk to you about our destination." Karl said nervously, voice wavering.
Dream sat down in a spare chair in his cabin, "Aye Karl, what's up?" He asked, resting his elbows on his knees, leaning forward. Karl laid his map down on the desk, taking a pencil out and drawing an x in the ocean.
"So this is where we are," Karl said, motioning to the x. "And this is our destination." He said, drawing a star on the shore of the New World. Where Dream's ship was supposed to land.
"Um... and this... is dangerous waters." He said, drawing a massive triangle in another part of the ocean near where our landing site would be. "I've heard that when ships cross these waters, they never come back.." Karl whimpered, visibly tensing up.
"Karl, don't worry. I know how to steer my ship through rough waters, we will be just fine." Dream reassured him, giving him a powerful pat on the back.
"Cap'... that's not exactly the problem." Karl said, directing his gaze to the ground.
"There are... evil mermaids in that water." Karl said at last. Dream burst out laughing "HAHA- EVIL MERMAIDS AREN'T REAL." He wheezed, slapping one of his knees. "I know it sounds ridiculous, but an old man told me-" Karl started but Dream interrupted him.
"Karl, don't believe what any old man says, you know that elders get wonked up in the brain." Dream said, rolling his eyes underneath his mask. Karl looked visibly annoyed. "I know it sounds ridiculous, but don't say that I didn't warn you." Karl retorted, clutching his map and stomping out of Dream's cabin.
Dream sighed, he didn't know what had gotten into Karl to make him say things like that. Elders can get confused and say weird but convincing things, that is likely what happened.
"OI CAPTAIN, WE CAUGHT A BIG ONE!" Niki yelled from outside. Dream opened the doors to see what all the ruckus was and his eyes blew wide.
