CHAPTER ONE

"something is coming. something hungry for blood." the wheeler boy said dramatically. "a shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness. it is almost here."

"what is it?" will asked.

"what if it's the demogorgon?" dustin nervously asked. "oh, gosh we're so screwed if it's the demogorgon!"

"it's not the demogorgon!" lucas reassured the boy.

"an army of troglodytes charge into the chamber!" mike exclaims.

"troglodytes?" maeve scoffed.

"told ya."

"wait a minute." mike turned around. "do you hear that? that-that sound. boom...boom... boom!"

"that didn't come from the troglodytes. no that... that came from something else."

everyone looked around at each other. "the demogorgon!" mike exclaimed.

"we're in deep shit."

"will, your action!"

"i don't know!" will cried.

"fireball him!" lucas yelled.

"i have to roll a thirteen or higher!"

"too risky, cast a protection spell!" dustin yelled.

"maeve, what do you think i should do?" will asked his best friend.

"don't ask me!" she put her hands up.

"don't be a pussy, fireball him!" lucas exclaimed.

"cast protection." dustin said again.

mike banged his fist on the table. "the demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering! it stomps toward you. boom!"

"fireball him, will!" lucas yelled once again.

"another stomp, boom!"

"cast protection!" dustin exclaimed.

"will, just do something!" maeve said.

"he roars in anger!"

dustin and lucas kept yelling back and forth. "fireball!" will yelled, making everything fall on the floor. "oh, shit!"

"where'd it go?" lucas asked. "where is it?"

"we don't know!" maeve yelled as everyone started searching for it.

"is it a thirteen?" dustin asked.

"i don't know!" will yelled.

"where is it?"

"oh my gosh!"

mike suddenly ran upstairs after hearing his mom call his name, and the party assumed it was time to go.
