"C'mon Steven you've gotta see the world outside of your books" stated Mark mockingly while fastening the buttons on his navy shirt in the mirror while grinning at Steven

"Right mate well im not sure im ready for your idea of seeing the world" Steven retorted with a disapproving look in his eyes.

" We need to go or we'll be late for work." Mark muttered while looking at his watch. Somehow steven had managed to get his job back at the museum

Although it was only part-time as he had decided he wanted to study Egyptology at university so he could finally get a job as a tour guide, although he doesn't need a qualification for that he just thinks it will make his boss more likely to give him a job.

"Alright you're up buddy," said Mark as he relinquished control to Steven.

(time skip to after work)

"I've decided how im gonna get you to see the world!"Mark blurted out, nearly jumping from his seat.

"Oh, what is it" Steven replied unenthusiastically

"Try to be a bit more enthusiastic"

" go on then tell me what it is"

"We're going to a show at that new bar on king street" he replied very proud of himself

"A gig? were not in college mark" steven replied bluntly

"C'mon it'll be fun".Mark rose from his chair and quickly grabbed his jacket as he flew out the door.

"Are you going to tell me what kind of show it is? is it poetry?" Steven questioned

"It's a new rock band, apparently they're pretty good" mark replied

They have arrived, they were expecting a longer queue this place had pretty good reviews online. as they walked in their eyes to a moment to adjust to the dim lighting of the room.

A small bar in the corner a dance floor and stairs to the indoor balconies overlooking the main stage and dance floor, this place was a hipster's dream with exposed brick on most of the walls a skylight on the roof, and hardwood flooring. Somehow the tables already had that stick feel that they tend to get in pubs, after only being open for like a month or two. Mark ordered a Stella at the bar ad sat down in wait for the show." apparently the guitarist is pretty hot" Mark chuckled to Steven he looked in the reflection or the beer bottle only to see Steven blushing

"Why would I care?" Steven spluttered out while looking away

"Well ever since Layla rejected you you've been looking for affection, I see the way you look at couples who come into the museum, you're lonely you always have been you got a taste of affection from Layla and now you want more" Mark replied pleased with his assessment or the situation

Steven was speechless he was shocked by how accurately Mark had evaluated him.

Fash, as the stage lights flickered on they were on the stage

"Hey were Monday panic and we hope you enjoy our show" the lead singer confidently into his microphone.

To his left the bassist he was a tall east Asian man with a bright pink buzzcut. To his left the lead guitarist she had long dark hair that had some curl to it and went just below her shoulders even though it was tied up in a messy ponytail she was of average height with sunkissed freckled skin. behind her was their drummer he was a black man with long dreadlocks tied in a bun on his head he had two full sleeves of tattoos and one on his neck.

Their leader who was also holding a guitar was a bad boy type his name was being called from the crowd that had been forming in front of the stage from their shouts Mark could infer his name was Elliot. Elliot had shoulder-length black hair he was wearing a beanie even though they were inside, a typical bad boy.

The lights faded to a blueish tint as they started playing their first song 'master of London'

Mark decided it was time for Steven to front and quickly fronted allowing Steven to take it all in. He loved it! He was enthralled by their sound a rhythmical masterpiece.

"Bloody hell this is awesome" he screamed to the reflection in the bottle which now showed Mark's face rather than his own.

The show had ended now and the band was packing up.

The guitarist was packing her pink guitar in its case while talking to the drummer,

They were all coated with a thin sheen of sweat glistening under the fluorescent stage lights.

"I loved your show, that's all you have to say then the conversation will flow" Mark was prepping Steven to start a conversation with the guitarist and hopefully land a date.

"Alright, here I go, wish me luck."Seven sheepishly replied to Mark's suggestion

He walked up to her and let out a fake cough to get her attention

" I loved your show " steven blurted out quicker than he had intended

"Oh thank you im Karly!" the guitarist replied chipperly she was interested in this new face he was handsome in a kind of rough way his peppery hair in tangly curls on his head his sleep-deprived eyes a deep brown like a chocolate ocean, he had a good physique by what she could see of his arms through his corduroy jacket.

"Oh right im Steven it's nice to meet you" he was surprised he got a reply so he wasn't sure what to say next

Silence neither of them knew what to say

"Im new to this" Steven nervously chuckled

"Yeah im not great at this either" she nervously replied

They laughed together for a moment looking into each others eyes

"Karly!" a voice shouted from across the room, it was Elliot their leader calling his guitarist over "we're leaving now"

"Look I have to go now but we should get a coffee sometime, yeah?" she tilted her head while waiting for an answer

"Yeah definitely!" Steven quickly replied, "Here is my number" he handed her a scruffy napkin with his number scrawled onto it.

"I'll give you a call yeah?"

"Yeah!"

She waved as she walked to leave with her bandmates they were all looking at her puzzled they all laughed at her she blushed as she pocketed Steven's number.

"Well done Steven!" mark said proudly "you go yourself a date"
