Wei Ying slowly peeled his eyes open. He frowned at the stone walls around him and it all came rushing back to his mind, the incident at Guanyin Temple a few days back.

Flashback

They were trying to figure out how to deal with Jin Guangyao when suddenly a wave of black mist flowed into the temple. Cultivators from the other clans had also come, the clan leaders and several juniors also present, but, they didn't know what was going on.

Everybody rushed back a few steps in fear. They all looked at Wei Ying, because, as far as history was told he was the only one who had mastered his control over resentful energy. The black mist flew past all the candles lit in the temple, blowing them all away, everything went dark, but, only for a few seconds before the candles were lit again.

Everyone was shocked at the sight before them. Lan Xichen was stabbed in his side and Suibian was bloody and in Wei Ying's hand. There were gasps and whispers among them all and everybody stared at only one person, Wei Ying. Lan Zhan was glaring at Wei Ying as though he might kill him any moment now!

Lan Zhan walked up to Wei Ying, his breaths coming fast and heavy and started punching Wei Ying hard. But, Wei Ying didn't resist the hits coming his way. He didn't stab Xichen. He couldn't even lift a sword properly anymore, so, how could he possibly stab someone?! Lan Zhan knew that he didn't use the sword anymore, but, he was too angry to be able to think straight, so, Wei Ying just took every hit Lan Zhan threw at him, hoping Lan Zhan would stop soon. But, he beat him up until Wei Ying couldn't take it anymore and passed out.

End of Flashback

Wei Ying could feel something wet on his cheek. Then he felt hot breaths by his ear and it stank. He had a bad feeling and was too scared to move. Still, he slowly peeked from the corner of his eye, he expected, no hoped it was anything but this. A dog! He was locked up in a cell with his biggest fear with no escape. There was a dog in here and it was huge!!

No. No. No. No. NOOO!!!

This can't be happening!

Someone help! Someone save me!

Lan Zha- No, Lan Zhan wouldn't save me!

There wasn't anybody else he could call out to. He didn't blame Lan Zhan for anything that's happened, but, how is it that Lan Zhan believed that Wei Ying stabbed Lan Xichen?

Lan Zhan said he loved me.

He said he trusted me.

He said he believed in me.

He said he'd always be there for me.

He knows I don't use the sword anymore.

Shit!! The dog is still here!!

Wei Ying slowly backed away towards the door, always keeping an eye on the dog that was slowly closing in on him. He felt dizzy for a few seconds, but, it was gone soon. His breaths quickened. He was having a panic attack, he knew that, but, he was helpless. He was hyperventilating now. His chest hurt, it felt tight like something was stuck inside and it hurt to breathe. He realized he was crying, but, he couldn't care less and as hard as it was he spoke, he called out, "Lan Zhan" But, it came out as a whisper. He couldn't breathe. He banged the door with what energy he had left; all he got in return was an annoyed "Shut up!"

Wei Ying backed into a corner, which was a bad idea and he realized it too late. The dog was growling at him, saliva dripped from its open mouth. He curled into a ball, pulled at his hair and clawed at himself hoping it was all a nightmare he could wake up from, but, he knew better.

And then it came, what he feared the most, the dog pounced on him. He held up his right arm to shield his face, but, the dog bit into it and he screamed and thrashed around, trying to pull his arm away. The door opened and the man standing guard rushed in, but, seeing the dog like this he got scared and left, shutting the door behind him.

The dog's teeth sank deeper into his arm, he tried to scream, but, nothing came out, he could only wheeze. Wei Ying didn't think he could make it out alive, and he finally gave up. The creak of a door was the last thing he heard before passing out.
