Not only was Devin mad at me, my dad was as well. After getting sent to my room, I expected my dad to make Jasmine leave, so we can discuss what happened and why I acted that way. But it never happened though. He stayed downstairs with Jasmine laughing and talking it up with her. I snuck out of my room to see that they seemed more comfortable and in a better mood when I left. I was glad that I brought out her defensive side. She competed with me when she shouldn't have to. She worked hard to win my dad over. Jasmine certainly impressed him enough for him to defend her. But there was nothing real about her.

Devin, on the other hand, ignored me. He continued to not talk to me. All of my calls and texts went unanswered. I cared about this guy, and I thought the feeling was returned. It hurt me to know that he wanted nothing to do with me.

"Miesha, now you see where all this worrying and prying get you?" Ranea told me after I told her everything that happened with my dad and how Devin was still acting toward me.

"Was I so wrong for trying to make sure my dad wasn't getting tricked?"

My dad protected me and looked out for me my whole life. I didn't understand why I couldn't do the same. Just like he wanted what's best for me I wanted what was best for him.

"Yes Miesha. You got to leave that alone. Whatever is happening you have to let him figure it out," Ranea advised me.

I pouted. Maybe she was right. My dad had every right to make his own decisions. I can't dictate who he dates or even if he should be dating at all. It was his life after all.

"Now about Devin. I'm sure he's still cooling off."

"But Ranea it's been days on top of days. How much cooling off time does he need?"

Ranea checked the clock. "We have  some time. Let's go find him."

Before I can protest, she grasped my hand. We moved through the halls at a fast pace until we stopped. Ranea stared straight ahead. A tall, dark skin guy stood before us. His eyes were on his phone.

Ranea boldly stepped up to him and cleared her throat. It embarrassed me to see him looking around trying to figure out where the noise came from.

"Down here," Ranea directed him.

"Ranea what's up?" He said smiling at her.

"Hey Tony."

He directed his eyes to me. He slide his phone in his back pocket and held out his hand. I took it. His grip was firm.
"Hello little one. What's your name?"

"Oh right. Tony. This is my best friend Miesha," Ranea introduced us.

Tony continued to look me in the eye. He wouldn't let go of my hand. I took a good look at him. Tony had the smoothest skin I ever seen. His neatly trim mustache and goatee made him appear like a full grown man. He smirked at me before I realized that I was staring too much. Ranea saved me by separating our hands.

"Alright enough of that. Where is Devin?" She asked.

His smile faltered. "Oh so this is what this is about again. Devin. Do I look like his keeper?"

"No but your his friend."

"Just cause I'm his friend doesn't mean I know where he is."
