She pulled me into the car, sitting me down carefully. She reached over me to put my seatbelt on for me. I felt her hot breath on my neck and tried to suppress the squeal. The sweet scent of her perfume made me dizzy. She closed the passenger door and went to the driver's seat."Alright ready to go, do we have everything?" She asks.
"I think so, but Lizzie we really don't have to do this." I plead.
"Nonsense, I want to make sure you're ok I don't want you to lose a hand on our second date." She laughs.
" Would you stop dating me if I had one hand?" I ask.
"Probably not, you got one hand left so.." I knew what she was referring to. I'm not sure if she regretted what she said, but she smiled and looked ahead to the road.
"Can I ask you something?" I said.
"Of course." She nodded.
"Are you ok?" I ask about the situation that happened earlier. Her smile immediately drops and she sighs because she knows she can't avoid the question.
"That moment we had when we were kissing, it was the first time I've felt actually happy and safe with someone since Robbie. I don't know I just broke down, and then I thought about how much I must've hurt you, which just made me cry even more, and seeing how supportive you were, how forgiving you were after I made the dickest move in history. I'm really happy we met Y/n most people wouldn't give me a second chance." She kept her eyes on the road and I kind of teared up. I quickly blinked them away and grabbed Lizzie's hand that was on the armrest. I held her hand in mine, rubbing small circles around her thumb.
"You make me really happy too, Lizzie. I like you a lot." I said.
"Alright, well this is kinda sad do you want to listen to some music?" She said switching the radio on. Immediately Shake it Off turned on and both of our faces lit up. She screamed the first lyric and I quickly joined in. We sang the entire way into the hospital, blasting songs from the radio the entire way. There were glances from time to time. Her smile was as bright as ever, her head bopping to the beat.
We pulled into the hospital parking lot. I undid my seat belt and she opened the car door for me. She tied up her hair and grabbed a hoodie from inside the car. She threw it on and covered her head with the hood.
"How do I look," She asked, she held her arms up for me to get a whole view of the outfit. Not that it was anything special, it was just a pair of jeans and a black hoodie. Then I realized.
"Unrecognisable," I said.
"Perfect, let's go" she began walking to the hospital entrance. We walked up to the ER lady and she gave me a form to fill in. I filled everything in, Lizzie looked over my shoulder as I scribbled words on the page.
" (your birthday date), I'll keep that in mind, maybe I'll throw a surprise party." She smiled.
"It's not a surprise if you tell me about it." I looked over my shoulder and our faces were mere millimetres apart. I felt her breathing down my chest, and I saw her look down. I was wearing a slightly revealing shirt, I knew what she was looking at.
"Maybe we should keep the gayness to a minimum when we're in the hospital. We don't need to give an old guy another heart attack." I said quietly.
"Good thing there are doctors nearby." she pecked my lip, I longed for more. There was a beep and soon, five doctors ran into a room. Lizzie and I watched as they tried to restart the man's heart. After a second shock, the man had a heartbeat again.
"Oh my god did we do that?" Lizzie's face set with panic as I tried to reassure her.
"It was just a coincidence, Lizzie. Don't worry." I patted her back reassuringly holding her body close to mine for comfort. We sat there for about 4 hours before a doctor finally came up to us. I was passed out on Lizzie's shoulder. She shook me gently and I slowly awoke. I looked up to the doctor. She was young, maybe in her 30s. Her brown her fell to her shoulders, and her doe eyes look right down at Lizzie and me. She smiled kindly revealing a set of perfectly aligned, white teeth. She led me to a bed and started inspecting the burn. She twisted my hand back and forth to get a better look at the severity of the burn. Lizzie held my other one, I winced and squeezed her hand tightly. I looked up at her with a pained expression. She just laughed.
"You look constipated, are you ok?" She continued laughing as I shifted uncomfortably.
"Aren't you supposed to be saying nice things to me? ow, shoot" I tried to pull my hand back as a reflex, but the doctor held it in place. "Sorry," I say to the girl working on my hand.
"No problem, I'm all done anyways." She looked back up at me with a smile before getting up from her stool. "I'm just gonna get some antibiotics and you should be good to go." She put my hand down and left our side.
"See I told you it was a good idea to come." She said.
"Sure," I said disapprovingly. "You better make it up to me though."
"I will don't worry." She winks. The doctor comes back and wraps my hand. She gives me a prescription for pain meds and antibiotics.
I sit down and she buckles me in again. I looked at the clock and it said 5 am. I had to be at work in two hours. I would have to quickly shower at Lizzie's and wear the same clothes as yesterday. I was so tired that the second Lizzie was in the car I fell asleep immediately. when we got home Lizzie opened the car door and I stirred gently. I got up, my eyes hadn't fully opened yet and I walked in a zigzag, unable to make my body walk straight. Lizzie wrapped her arm around my waist and helped me walk straight. We got to her apartment. I heard her keys jingle as she tried to shove the correct one in the keyhole. I watched her struggle for a bit before the door unlocked. We walked in and I flopped on the couch. I didn't want to go to work. I had been up all night, my hand hurt, and I had a headache. I knew I didn't have a choice.
"Lizzie, can I use your shower? I gotta get to work." I asked
"Of course, I'll make you a cup of coffee and find you a fresh pair of clothes." She smiled. How can a person be so energetic after being up all night? I found my way to the bathroom. I turned the knob and made the water freezing cold hoping it would wake me up. I used her soap and washed my body, enjoying the feel of the cool water against my skin.
I heard the door creak but didn't think much of it until the shower curtain was pulled back halfway. I looked eagerly as a single bare leg stepped into the shower. Her other leg followed shortly and soon her entire naked body was right in front of me. We both stared looking over every curve, every beauty mark, every place I would place a kiss. She came closer to me. She rested her hands on my waist and I did the same. Good thing I was allowed to get my burnt hand wet or this morning wouldn't be as fun.
"I told you I would make it up to you?" She grinned.
