Valerie and Sandra were texting when Sandra asked if she went to get her and if she would go. It was the first day of summer and they had been talking all day. Valerie missed her crush and answered yes. She thought she was joking like all other times.
Later at night, when her mom was asleep, she was laying in her bed scrolling on YouTube. She started to think about the text convo they had that day when she saw a new text message go through. "Hey, I'm outside. Come out here"
She excitedly got on some leggings so she could easily run and kick someone. She then got on her sneakers and picked up the keys. She walked out of the house, locked the door behind her, was careful of being quiet, and got out of the house safely. She ran up to the driveway and saw Sandra there.
She had on tight-fitting jeans with a simple white t-shirt and her normal converse. Her hair had its natural wave that bounced with her run. She hugged her tightly and said, "I missed you." Valerie hugged her back just as tight.
They ran off and took off to a store nearby to just hang out. They had a fun time messing around and found a grass-covered area. Valerie dragged Sandra gently over and they laid down in the grass. Valerie looked to the side and saw a daisy. She picked it up and handed it to Sandra.
"I know you're not big with flowers but I do this with certain people." Valerie blushed as their hands glided by each other when she gave her the flower. Her stomach erupted with butterflies and she looked at her face.
Sandra put her hand out. Valerie didn't understand and put her hand out as well. Sandra took it in her hand and held her hand tightly. Before Valerie could say or stutter nonsense, Sandra whispered to her to shut up.
They slowly headed back to Valerie's house, still holding hands the whole way. By the time they got back, it was around midnight. Valerie hugged her goodbye and smiled at her. She ran up to the door and unlocked it. She quietly walked to her room and fell asleep, dreaming of a certain someone.
*In 8th - 9th-grade summer, May 27th*
Sandra and Valerie were texting during the day. The first mentioned something about exactly a year ago.

Valerie hugged her phone and smiled at it with a bright smile. She was excited to see her new girlfriend just like last year. It's very good because they won't go to the same high school so this was the last year they would see each other.
Soon, 10 rolled around. Valerie was ready when she got her text from Sandra saying she was outside. Valerie had put on a red loose shirt and some black ripped jeans. She slipped on her converse and walked to the door with her keys. She was just as careful as last time.
As soon she got out she ran to Sandra and attacked her with a hug. She was wearing a white jacket that was obviously not hers with a black shirt and black leggings. She had on her usual converse. Valerie pecked her on the cheek.
"C'mon, let's go!" She excited said as she dragged her by the hand. All the way to the place they were last time, they stopped at 7 11 though to get some food and drinks. They lay on the grass and ate their food. Valerie looked over at her girlfriend. Very happy that they had ever met.
Without Sandra, Valerie doesn't know where she would be. Valerie would still be single, that's for sure. Valerie held her girlfriend's hand. "I'm happy I'm with you." She said to her and pecked her hand.
Valerie smirked as she could tell that Sandra started to blush. Sandra mumbled a quick shut up and continued to eat.
Once they were done, they walked around. They both started to head back to Valerie's place and Sandra said goodbye. "Bye babe." She said.
Valerie hugged her tightly and started to tear up. "I won't see you next school year." Sandra hugged her tightly back. "We will call and text every day and we will meet up more times."
Valerie gave her a peck on the lips. She walked up to the house and waved goodbye. Once she was inside she put down the keys and went to bed.
And every day since May 27th they would go out. It became a tradition to them.
