oh, society, you scare me
issues and news spill your secrets
woe, oh, woe is me
as the government speaks with a gun to my head
or as the journalist writes with coins for eyes
or just a student is given a book full of lies
how can you be so dismissive of the truth?
how can you be so blind with every single nuke?

'believe what you believe'
'let bygones be bygones'
'it was just his father'
HA! true, it was his father, but did the child, the now president utter?
did he not try to speak up to a dictator?
the man who made millions of our people slaves to their country?
debted to others, looked down by ou neighbors
we're called 'idiots' for letting a thief sit on his throne

what worth was the fight for democracy?
if money blinded the poor, starved and ignorant?
i speak my opinions yet silenced with a gun
coins clicking as it sunk in my pockets
coins made from children in the mines rot in
bile rises, my body hurls
how can i stay quiet if society looks at my very moves?

if you truly cared, then why mark thos who speak?
why bark in anger and threaten the parents of the youth that screams
"I want a better future!"
"Our country needs revolution!"
"He's a criminal!"
then BANG
blood slithers swiftly in the drains,
as the parents mourn for days

history likes to repeat itself
i'd prefer it not, but it's not my choice
the people voted, with blood and boils
the issue covered, by bored officials,
muddy boots, red-coated hands, and liquor scented beards
"swines" i snarled
yet who would listen to one person
who speaks madness and grins
