Chapter 2: Missed Target

Kalopsia
(n.) the delusion of things being more beautiful than they really are

༄𖣘༄

The Ball was tonight and things were starting to look perfect. Foods were ready, decorations were set up. The staff really out did themselves with this ball going all out with everything

You were currently helping some of the maids put the cleaning supplies away. You left them seeing they could handle the rest of the work

You were about to exit the palace when someone grabs your arm. You turn around to see the same maid from the beginning of the tale

"Baker, I apologise for disrupting you but I need your help with the princesses dress for the ball" she softly speaks

'Isn't that a Tailors job' you question in your head, since when is a baker requested to help in the ways clothing

"Aren't there any Tailors" you asked

"No the Tailors are currently looking through different fibres but they need the princess's measurements and I'll need help to measure the princess" she shyly says lowering her head a bit

"I guess it won't take too long" you sigh letting the maid led the way to the princesses residence

The door opens and you see Princess Charming at the balcony arms on the rails, her hair blowing elegantly in the air and her sun kissed skin shimmering in the light

'Why do all princesses have to look so perfect' you comment internally

She turns around and walks towards you two, she instantly looks at you seeming to remember you from your past encounter, she merely nods at you and you nod back

"Just measure the princess's waist while I get the corset" the maids and swiftly leaves the room

You turn to the princess who's already positioned so you can probably measure her waist, you walk towards and wrap the measurement tape around her waist

"Are you excited for the ball, princess" you try and start a conversation with her

"No, it's just gonna be a waste of energy" she sighs out looking tired "No one I've met has ever really catch my eye in terms of personality and appearance"

"And that's what the ball is for to meet other people you haven't met before, you might find someone special"

"I highly doubt it"

"Who knows maybe you'll met someone who stands out like a white rose in a garden red roses" you smirk in your mind you're laughing a bit at your own little foreshadowing and play on the language of flowers

The Princess Charming glances at you then smiles slightly

"Maybe" she giggles a bit this in denial

After a giving the correct measurements to the Maid you bid the Princess farewell and head on off out of the castle

As you walk on away from the castle you see some carriages going pass you. Guests were already starting to attend the ball
