Anxiety swirled my in my stomach as I collected my luggage. I hadn't seen my family in nearly 20 years and yet here I am, walking through the airport looking for them. When I moved to London I never intended on going back home, not after what happened to Maia. Home held to many memories of Maia and I from when we were younger. I remember it as if it were yesterday when she was diagnosed with dementia. But even with all the help everyone put in, no one can stop the voices that echo in your ears.
Eventually the voices got to bad, and Maia couldn't handle it anymore, so she silenced them.

I was shaken from my daze when I heard a familiar voice call out my name, "Noah! Over here!", called my other sister Dayton. Trailing after her was my brother Atlas, I embraced both of them when they got closer. Looking behind them I see my dad, you could tell mum's death hit him the hardest. His usually joyful face held a sombre expression, bags had taken place under his eyes which were red rimmed. Yet he still managed to put on a somewhat happy face from seeing all his kids together for the first time in years. I walked over to him and encased him in my arms, neither of us saying anything. Just silently comforting each other, "Wow, look at you all together all grown up", dad croaked voice hoarse. "I'm sorry about mum", I manage to get out. Dad smiles sadly.
"Your mum knew when it was time to give into the cancer." He paused, "She was done fighting against it, but know she is at peace, and Maia will be there to guide her to Heavens gates."
I remembered mums smile, and how she always managed to cheer us up. Mum was the glue that kept us going, she put her own grief for Maia aside to help us cope with ours. Even years later those memories still bring tonnes of nostalgia with it. Heaven gained another angel today, now they will watch over us, helping us through our lives.
