-𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐲-

I couldn't stop the tear rolling down my cheek from becoming a waterfall of sobs.

Lexi and Callie hugged me tightly, both crying as well.

"We'll miss you, Mel," Harper murmured softly.

As I was wiping my tears, I felt Cal and Tessa's arms slowly slip away. When I looked up, Connor stood there with red eyes, crying even more than me.

"I'm going to miss you so much, sunshine."

Just after hearing that one sentence, I broke down again- Connor hugged me as I soaked the front of his jacket with my tears.

"Don't you dare ignore my calls," I half threatened, half cried.

"I won't."

"We're leaving in a few minutes," my mom warned.

Connor only hugged me tighter.

"I know we haven't been together for too long," Connor finally mumbled. "But it feels like I've known you all my life. You're amazing, Melody- you're everything I've ever wanted and I'll miss you. So, so much."

"Imma miss you too, Connor Jeong."

It was true. Connor was really something different. It wasn't like my experience with Ian, who was just the perfect gentleman on the outside. Connor was sweet and gentle inside and out, and loving in every way... perfect boyfriend material. How could my parents be so cruel to rip me away from the best moments of my life and toss me into a city I knew nothing about?

I forced myself to pull away. "Goodbye, Connor."

I hugged everyone else who had gathered there in front of my house- the house I'd known and lived in since I was seven.

I hugged Tessa, my first friend in this neighborhood.

Then Callie, my sister at heart.

Lexi, whom I could always depend on through thick and thin.

Harper, who always listened to my long rants and sobs.

Caleb, who was always there in the back, supporting me.

Julian, who I'd gone through a lot with and always had my back.

Asher, the first person to sit with me at lunch when I was new and didn't know anyone.

Alec, precious and gentle Alec, who I trusted with my life.

Ian, with whom I had my first long-term romance.

The parents and my friends' siblings, who were all family to me.

"Come on Mel, it's time to go." Michael wrapped an arm around my shoulders and led me to the car.

I begrudgingly got into our van and rolled down the window.

My boyfriend reached through and intertwined my hand with his. "Call me when you need me."

I nodded and hugged Connor one last time.

The car started to move, and I waved to my friends.

"Bye, Mel!"

"We love you!"

"I love you, sunshine."

A tear rolled down my cheek.

"I love you guys," I whispered softly to myself as the friends I'd known forever vanished from view.
