Do I know you?

Jahoon: Jackpot! These rich people are so stupid! They can't even feel when they are getting pickpocketed or when their money's gone.

I stood in an alley while I counted the many bills that were in the wallet. Ever since the day that I killed my parents, I have been living my life on the streets stealing from rich people. It is not like they are going to miss a couple of bucks here and there. I got enough money to get myself a great house so that I didn't have to be sleeping outside on the ground and I also got a few people working for me. So you could say that I had gotten myself a gang. I was living my life now and I didn't have to worry about anything anymore. I didn't have to worry about where I was going to sleep, I didn't have to worry about food and I didn't have to worry about going back home to my so-called parents and hoping they would not beat me up. It has been about 14 years since I killed them and no one has been after me and accusing me of murder. Their bodies have been found but with every other dead homeless, they get thrown into the pile of deceased homeless downtown. I pocket the money and throw the wallet. I put my hands in my pockets as I walked down the streets on my way back home while whistling. I didn't have to pickpocket myself since I have gotten people to do it for me but I have to be in form or else what kind of leader was I. I walked past a convenience store and decided to buy some drinks and snacks for myself to enjoy back home. I got inside and got the stuff that I needed before making my way out but on the way out I bumped into someone making the both of us fall on our butts. I mumbled to myself swear words as I angrily got on my feet and looked down at the other person.

Jahoon: Why don't you look where you are going?! Do you know how much this suit cost?!

???: I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you! I will pay for any damage that I have caused!

The woman in front of me bowed before standing straight back up so that I could see her face clearly. There was something about her features that reminded me of someone but I couldn't pinpoint it. I just shrugged the thought off and scoffed at her.

Jahoon: Yeah, right. Like I'm going to believe you.

She twisted her body as she looked truthfully sorry. I looked at her up and down and examined her. She had quite a great body and she also had a beautiful face on top of that. Maybe I could get her number and use her?

Jahoon: Well you don't have to pay for me but you can give me your number and I can think about a way you can pay me back? I will text you when I know it.

???: Of course! Here I will write you my number.

She grabbed a piece of paper from her bag and wrote her number to me.

???: Again, I'm really sorry. I hope to hear from you soon on how I can repay you.

The woman in front of me bowed before walking inside the store. I looked at her back until she disappeared from my eyesight and swung my plastic bag over my shoulder. I looked at the piece of paper she had given me to also see that she had given her name. Kim Jiwon.... Why does it sound familiar?

Jahoon: Minho, go out and search for who this Kim Jiwon is. I want to know everything about her. See if you can find some photos of her, both recently and from the past.

Minho: Of course, miss. Do you also want me to do something with her?

Jahoon: Did I ask you to do that? No? Then just go out and do as I ask and nothing more.

I waved my hand lazily for Minho, who was my right hand here in the gang, to go away. He bowed to me and closed the door behind him when he left. Minho was the first one that I took under my wing. When I met him for the first time, I was 10 and he was 4. I didn't want anyone to go through the same things as I did, so I decided to take care of him and he has been loyal to me ever since. I placed my legs on top of my desk and leaned back in my chair. I held the piece of paper between two fingers as I examined it. No matter how many times I say the name, I still can't figure out where I have heard the name before. It feels so close to me, that I do feel a little bad about it. I threw the paper onto my desk and just closed my eyes. If I really knew her then I would find out soon when Minho comes back with some news.

Jahoon: So I really knew her....

I looked at the papers with information about her. When I saw the picture of her as a kid, everything clicked in place. She was the same Jiwon that I had known as a kid. The Jiwon that had helped me when I was at my lowest but ever since the day that I killed my parents I haven't been in contact with her. It was my own fault but I didn't want her to be involved in my wrongdoings. I took a recent picture in my other and compared it with the one of her as a kid. She still looked the same but only mature. How didn't I recognize her? I leaned back in my seat as I examined her recent picture more closely. Knowing that it was her, I couldn't bring myself to do anything toward her. Maybe I could reunite with her? But will she even remember me? She didn't seem to when we bumped into each other. Only one way to find out.

Jahoon: Hello, is this Kim Jiwon?

Jiwon: Yes, is it. May I ask who are you?

Jahoon: I'm the one that bumped into in front of the convenience store.

Jiwon: Oh, right! I remember! Do you know how I can pay you back?

Jahoon: I know but is involved in us meeting each other again. Would that be fine with you?

Jiwon: Of course! I don't have any problem with it. Should at meet at the Starship café? At 12 am tomorrow?

Jahoon: Sounds fine with me.

Jiwon: Excellent! See you tomorrow then.

I bid goodbye and ended the phone call. This meeting is going to be interesting.
