These questions are all about the basics of witchcraft; including basic definitions, misconceptions, and where to start!

These are genuine questions I have received in my Wattpad comments section, but because they are on parts of this book that are now unpublished, they are no longer public. The posters of these comments will remain anonymous as a result.

Feel free to leave any of your questions below in the comments section, and I will update the book with my answers!

I want to get into witchcraft, but I don't know where to start.

First, you need to clarify for yourself whether you want to practise Wicca or witchcraft. These are very different things but often confused by beginners. Wicca is a religion comprising of a precise set of practices and beliefs, whereas witchcraft is not a religion and has no set of specific practices or beliefs.

I begin with this because a lot of beginner books you may read might conflate Wicca and witchcraft, thus adding to the confusion. A lot of older Wiccan books have this annoying habit of forgetting that non-Wiccan witches exist!

So now that we've got that out of the way, here's a list of things I recommend to research first:
> What magick is and how it works
> Ethics
> Meditation
> Visualisation
> Grounding and centring
> Energy work
> Protecting yourself
> Cleansing, charging, & discharging
> Tools & Correspondences
> Divination

To begin you on your research, I highly suggest that you read my other work "Modern Witchcraft: Beginners Guide" - you can find it on my Wattpad profile! It takes you through all the basics of witchcraft, one baby step at a time.

If you'd like some book recommendations, then check out:
> Witchery: Embrace the Witch Within by Juliet Diaz
> The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
> Six Ways by Aiden Wachter
> Weave the Liminal: Living Modern Traditional Witchcraft by Laura Tempest Zakroff (she is hex-positive so you may want to stay away if that makes you uncomfortable!)
> The Door to Witchcraft by Tonya A Brown

All of the above books are for learning witchcraft without Wicca, just so you don't get confused!

If you want to learn witchcraft with Wicca, then I recommend:
Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland
> Wicca: A Year and a Day by Timothy Roderick
> Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin

If you don't have the time/money for books right now, here's some great beginner articles to read through:
