Sylvie's POV
A day later..
"Let's run it through once again. Portrait?"
"Ready."
"Food and drink?"
"Prepared."
"Decor and ambience?"
"All set up."
"Invitations?"
"Sent."
"Outfit?"
"Still have to check that."
"Make sure it is the most special one. This is going to be one of the most memorable days of your life." He nodded his head.
"And Jane's outfit?"
"When the time comes. Well, Jane doesn't know anything about this right?"
"Her mind's a clean slate on this topic."We bumped our fists playfully, smiling.
It is Jane's first birthday on Asgard, so Thor and I have planned the biggest birthday party she ever had in her life. We usually have balls and feasts at such times, but we set this up so that she won't be a complete stranger to the Asgardian traditions."And the ring, Thor?" I smirked.
"Umm...That is..u- under progress," he stuttered.
Thor had a ring with him for months, just waiting for the right opportunity to ask Jane. Apparently, he misplaced it somehow a few days ago and now he doesn't have one.And yes, today's also the day when Thor proposes Jane for marriage.
Thor confessed his feelings for Jane to me that night when he sneaked up on me. A few words of encouragement led him to plan this unforgettable day of his life. He asked me to help him, and so I did. Sister duties.I sighed. "Promise me you will be more responsible than you are in the future. Especially with Jane."
"Cross my heart," he said plainly.
"Here, I got you covered." I opened a small box and handed it to him.
Thor's eyes lighted up on seeing the surprise. Inside was a platinum ring which had a sparkling sapphire stone in the centre shaped like a lightning bolt and four smaller diamonds studded around it.
"A perfect gift for soon-to-be wife of God of Thunder. You liked it?"He was still looking down, stroking the ring with his thumb. Out of the blue, he hugged me tight. I sensed he was getting emotional.
"Thank you Sylvie. I am lucky to have such a perfect sister." His voice was quivery.Shortly after I arrived at Asgard, I was honoured as a member of the board of Asgardian archives; only because I had the information of all the realms. Apart from handling affairs of the kingdoms, I had to attend discussions and debates with the Asgard's most intelligent people on the things we knew and things we didn't about the billions of people out there.
It's been less than a week since I met Jane but she would accompany me to all those meetings. As an astrophysicist, she was too excited to know everything about the universe. She was curious, and I was helpful. And this bloomed into a new sweet friendship.
Jane isn't just beauty, she is more of brains. She is a lot dedicated to her work and would spend her entire day at the library reading all she could about the universe and its working. And look where that dedication got her. With old gold coloured hair falling to her shoulders and light brown eyes, she looked beautiful as compared to other Midgardians. She was petite and dainty like a typical Terran, but that did not affect her feistiness at all. She was confident and had the courage to stand up for herself. Happy and lively. Just like Thor.
Thor courted a lot of princesses from other realms, but he never felt the way he feels now with Jane. Being from different realms and the huge age gap between them didn't seem to interfere in their relationship. I noticed the way they saw, the behaved around each other, and I must confess, Jane is the perfect life partner for Thor. I am glad Thor finally found his love, after what he had been through. It was this love which changed the arrogant, headstrong Thor into the more sensible and calm one we all love.
