Some Filipino customs and traditions have survived generations of change but are still alive.

The most enduring of these is the "pagmamano" which is taking the elders' hand onto one's forehead. This is to respect or a form of greeting.

Another custom is placing coin at the base of stains of a house that is being built. Our old folks say that this is done to ensure stability of finances for the needs if a family. The hospitability of the Filipinos is very much alive, when a guest, relative of a visitor from a far away place visits, he or she is given the best comforts the family can give!

When somebody in the community passes away, the practice of "ραƙιƙιɾαɱαყ" is very much visible. Friends and relatives of the deceased attend the wake, donate abuloy, and participate in the praying, singing, or eating. There are a few more customs and traditions which are truly distinct from the Filipinos.
