FluffTsundere Karina
Desc.: You finally managed to ask Karina, the girl everyone at your college knows for her beautiful looks, out on a date. However it's somehow not going as you'd have imagined a nice date to go.
You're not sure how you got her to agree to go on a date with you - honestly speaking it's probably because you disguised it as a study date and she didn't put as much emphasis on the date part as you do - but here you are now: Sitting in a nice little café at a table by the window side, in front of you books and notes and a few pens, and opposite you sitting Karina, the girl known for her beauty and unapproachable stance all throughout your college. It's still a mystery how you went from barely talking to her, over developing a massive crush on her basically overnight, to now sitting in this adorably furnished café with her, helping each other study for the exams at the end of the semester. And while you're still trapped deep in your thoughts, your heart beating just a little faster than usual, she already has her eyes glued to the book in front of her. She lets out an annoyed sigh and shifts her gaze to the ceiling overhead, while all you can do is look at her with question marks in your eyes.
"I don't get this..." she mumbles, and before she can go back to trying to memorize the page she's on, she catches your eyes. "Aren't you here to study too?" she asks, the annoyance still present in her voice.
"Um... yes," you say.
"Then why do you keep staring at me instead?" You're surprised by how bold she just was, and a cold sweat runs down your back.
"I'm sorry... I wasn't trying to make you feel uncomfortable or anything..." you apologize and force yourself to start reading through your notes that you took in class. Another sigh. A glance at Karina tells you she went back to studying too. This kind of tense get-together wasn't what you had planned this to be, and you know if you don't do something, the atmosphere won't change anytime soon. Seeing her nibble on her bubble tea gives you an idea, so you get up.
"Where are you going?" she asks you, avoiding to lock eyes with you.
"Just hold on for a moment, okay?" And so, taking your bag in your hand, you walk off and around the corner where the counter is right in front of the entrance. You queue up next to a handful of other people, and study the various cakes and other sweets displayed just beneath the counter behind some glass. When it's your turn you're still not entirely sure what to get, so you just pick out a slice of cake that looks cute to you, with red coating and a pink candy butterfly on top as decoration. The reason this felt like the best option is probably because you've been staring at her lips for too long, that are painted in the same shade of red, but you brush that realization aside when the clerk hands you your plate and you return with it.
From afar you can already see Karina glancing out the window, seeming more solitary than usual. Apparently she has also given up on trying to understand what's written in the textbook. Though you have a hunch there's more to her sudden sadness.
She looks up at you with surprise written in her eyes when you set down the plate and put one of the forks you got yourselves on the table in front of her. Then those same wide eyes proceed to stare at the piece of cake.
"Oh..." she lets out softly and you tilt your head to the side while sitting down.
"What? I wasn't sure if you'd like this kind of cake so I can get another-" Her round eyes peeking into your face cause the words to get stuck in your throat.
"No, no... I was just afraid that... you'd leave too..."
"What do you mean?" you ask.
"Well... whenever someone asks me out on a date they just leave after a while. Because they realize who I really am..." So she did realize it's a date, you think to yourself.
"Who you really are...?" you repeat. She continues explaining while avoiding to look directly at you.
"That I'm actually just awkward and don't know how to talk to people..."
"Ahhh!" You begin to understand her problem. Hoping to cheer her up a little, you smile at her. This time it's her getting flustered, and you can see a faint blush appear on her cheeks. "But there's more to you than just that, isn't there? It takes you some time to open up to people, so what? Isn't that true for all of us?" you say. "I mean, nobody goes around just freely telling everyone everything about themselves from the start."
"That's true, but..."
"I know that's not exactly what you mean," you reassure. "I'm just trying to say... it's okay if you need some time to open up to someone. Now come here and try some of this!" You take a piece of cake with your fork and hold it out to her, now seeing the blush taking over her whole face.
"I-I can eat by myself, thank you," she retorts as she tries to take the fork out of your hand, but she only ends up awkwardly holding both the fork and your fingers as she shoves the cake into her mouth. You have to chuckle at the sight. You wouldn't have imagined her to be this cute. "It's good," she mumbles after swallowing the bite.
"You want more?" you're already getting ready to feed her another bite, but she hastily picks up her own fork and beats you to it.
You enjoy the slice of cake together and you watch as she finds her calm again. Then you both focus on your textbooks once more, however this time you actually help each other understand the contents. It seems like whenever you're stuck, she knows how to help you out and vice versa. Time flies and studying for once doesn't seem so dreadful at all, and before you realize it it's already getting dark outside. You will have to say your goodbyes soon.
"So does that mean we can go study together more often?" she asks shyly when you're out on the street in front of the shop.
"Of course. Let's have another study date sometime soon," you agree, being very amused when the tips of her ears turn bright red upon you calling it a date.
"D-don't say it like that," she hisses.
"Sure, sure. Then let's meet again on Monday in class?" She nods, but even when you attempt to walk away she doesn't move. "Is anything the matter?" you ask, but she shakes her head.
"No... just..." Karina takes a deep breath and straightens up. "I just... maybe... wanted to say... thank you," she stammers. "F-for staying with me and stuff..." You chuckle and spread your arms, hoping she would take the hint. However, she just stares at you, flustered.
"I like you for who you are, not just your looks. Of course I'll stay," you say, making a motion with your fingers to tell her to come here. Blushing madly, she runs up to you and hugs you.
"Oh, shut up..." you can hear her mumble as she buries her face in the crook of your neck.
