Alex knew that. A million alarm bells had gone off in his head the moment he'd peered into that creepy coffin containing the partially reformed Titan lord. But there was Luke, and Luke was his brother, and Luke said they would make the world a better place. That's where his loyalties lied. Not with a father who'd left Luke scarred. So he didn't listen to those alarm bells until much, much later.

Ophelia had never been to Camp Half-Blood. She'd known only dark alley ways and creeping shadows until Luke had found her. Or really, she'd found him. Her mother had whispered in the shadows, guided her to family. Hecate had guided her to Luke. But when demigod after demigod descended into the maze on his orders and came back spouting insanity, Alex told her of a better family. A family he'd once been willing to die for, and one he said he would be willing to die for again.

Kitty had resigned herself to a quest-less existence the instant Tyche had claimed her as a daughter at the age of ten. The children of minor gods didn't even get their own cabins, let alone a quest. But that was fine. She liked a few of the campers, like her fellow Cabin 11 kid, Alex. But with Percy Jackson's arrival throwing everything into chaos and Luke's betrayal at the end of summer, she soon found herself alone. Kitty had no interest in serving some mostly-dead Titan. But she had no love for the Olympians, either. So she bided her time, sharpened her blade, and won a whole lot of poker against Mr. D.

Unfortunately, her luck ran out as it always did. The war reached Camp Half-Blood. The monsters arrived, swords out. But so did Alex. The golden boy came back an outcast with a daughter of a traitor minor god in tow, but they needed all the swords they could get, so Cabin Eleven grew a little more.
