A Tale of Two Planets

Ⅰ: The Separation

A sci-fi story by TheDarkstalker

The period of Moving

It was the best of times for some, it was the worst of times for others. It was the age of exploration, it was the age of laziness. It was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of disbelief. This is the story of two girls tragically split apart- WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE! Ok, byeeeee! Sorry about that, my name is Mira Sanderson, and I am one of the girls that guy was just talking about. This is about how I and my friend Katie were separated on different planets with virtually no way to communicate. All right buddy do your thing again but don't make it too boring, or I'll be back! Alright now that I can do my job, ON WITH THE STORY! Here we go...

Earth, 20, 10, 2470

"Alright Mira, it's nearly time to get to the space station to get to our planet." Mira's mom called. Mira's parents were two of the four heads of the IRA, the International (or intergalactic, depending on who you ask) Refuge Association. While this may sound like a bad thing, it's not. You see, a while back four scientists in NASA discovered that humans were using up Earth's materials too rapidly, and soon we would need another planet to live on, but they couldn't do it immediately, because science needed to advance further before they could. So they formed the IRA to make these advancements, and evacuate the planet. Now that day has come. They finished grabbing their things, pressed a button on their shoes, and flew to the station. They raced to the front of the ship, sat down strapped in, and then Mira's dad said "we are ready for take-off."

"Alright Katie, it's nearly time to get to the space station to get to our planet." Katie's Mom called. Katie's parents were the other two scientists that ran the IRA. That meant that Katie and her family, and the Sanderson family spent A LOT of time together, so Mira, and Katie were BFFs. In the IRA her parents were (as previously stated) the other two heads of the IRA. Her dad was the one who had initially found out that Earth was running out of Resources, and we needed to move. Her Mom was the one that got permission from all of the world leaders to form the IRA. Mira's mom was the one who made all of the tech for the IRA's purpose, and her Dad was in charge of finding planets. He found the planets everyone was evacuating to, 51 Pegasi B, and Kepler 16-b were the ones that America got. Kepler 16-b orbited two stars, not just one (a lot like the planet Tatooine in Star Wars) was a Gas giant and completed a rotation (a year) every 228.8 days. 51 Pegasi B was also a Gas Giant, orbited a sun a lot like ours, and completed a rotation every 4.2 days. Since the two planets were both gas giants the IRA had made floating colonies, that would also serve as a method of transportation. There were quite a lot of colonies, 2 for each country. One colony would go to one planet, and the other would go to the other. The one headed for Kepler 16-b was called A-113, and going to 51 Pegasi B was 3-11A. When they reached the second colony (A-113) they rushed up to the front, and repeated the same words said a moment earlier in colony 3-11A "We are ready for take-off."

The Fail

51 Pegasi B, 25, 10, 2470

The colony (3-11A) was hovering over 51 Pegasi B. It was not the one that Mira had wanted but she figured it would be fine. Until she had found out that Katie was NOT in her colony. It was the first day on the new planet, and Mira was excited. While the colony performed most of what it would do while it was flying, there were different things when it was stationary. For one people were no longer confined to their cabins because there was no chance of a sudden jump through space, which would knock anybody off their feet if they were not in the specially designed beds that could retract into a safe pod in the wall to prevent this effect. Now everyone was starting their new job, most of them were the same as on Earth, but some (such as people that had worked for the government) had different jobs. (This is because a government is different in space than on Earth). Mira wandered around, looking at people who were setting up shop. Mr. Devinski was setting up his pawnshop, the Tomlinsons were getting their bank in order, and the Ballard's were setting up the school. Mira decided to go to the Orbital Caffè, run by the Hardaway's. "Hi, Mira!" Mr. Hardaway, the owner, said. "What would you like today?" "Just an Egg in a hole," she said. "Coming Right Up!" The breakfast was good, but she couldn't get over Katie. She wandered toward the bank. Maybe a talk with Rigby, the Tomlinson's son, would cheer her up. "Hey Mira!" he called, "what brings you here?" "Just needed someone to lighten me up" she replied "I know what'll do the trick," he said, "My new book: Fragmented, here, I'll send it to you" Mira's watch binged, and a holographic book popped up. It had a blue cover, with embossed golden words that said: Fragmented, The New Moon, By Rigby Tomlinson. "Thanks," she said. "It looks good." She left the bank and headed back to the cabin. She ordered a grilled Ham and Cheese for lunch and read Rigby's book while she ate. It was really good, very "all over the place" so to speak. She wandered around downtown, and then, for dinner had Niki's Italian Bistro with her family. As she walked back to her cabin, looking around the colony, she saw that it was an amazing place. But if it had Katie, it would be even better

Lol. I fricking wrote this in fourth grade for an assignment. Enjoy it.
