After a long day of work study, you dragged your feet back to UA, exhausted from the day's work. Who knew working for the Genius Office would be as exhausting as a triathlon. Of course, you've never run one before to compare, but the distinction and thought of it was comparable.

You felt the weight of your shoulders grow heavy the sooner you arrived back at your dorm, taking one foot over the other up the stairs. Assuming that everyone was at the internships meant very few of your classmates would be present, only greeting one or two who had just arrived after you had. However, your day left you exhausted while you made your way to your dorm room on the second floor.

A smile perked on your lips, more so a small tug of a smirk when the thought crossed your mind. Due to how busy most people were, not one person wished a happy birthday. It was given considering the day with everyone already focused on the tasks at hand depending on their agency of choice.

"Figures," you sighed with a slouch, taking the elevator to the second floor. There was no chance you were taking the stairs after a grueling day. But your tired smile was fueled by another thought, wondering how Hitoshi Shinsou was faring now in Class 1-A.

The second year began with the surprise of seeing Shinsou appear in your class, introduced and seated. After the first year of trepidation, you were filled with joy to find the purple-haired student now where he wanted to be, and where he deserved.

The elevator doors slid open while you yawned unexpectedly, taking you by surprise until your feet almost tripped over something black. You hopped over the tiny thing before its tail perked up from your surprise, soon with wide blue eyes that stared up at you in wait.

"Toka?" You cried out, first in confusion and then in panic, reaching out to the black creature by the carpeted floor. "Are you okay?"

She only mewled before she walked away in a trot, turning to face you again as if she were—

"You want me to follow you?" You asked, finding her again in trot through the hall. Her paws lightly tapped against the carpet as if she floated above it before she stopped by a very familiar dorm door, staring back at you. She waited patiently, her tail twitching ever so slightly with every step you approached.

You watched her motion towards the door, scratching at its wooden surface until it creaked open slowly to allow her entry inside. Yet the door did not open any further than a crack. If not for the fluorescent lights of the halls, you'd have thought that you were in a horror with the way the slightly ajar door stayed silently afterwards. But you knew it belonged to none other than Shinsou. Much of your willpower was left to restraining your use of your Quirk, avoiding any mind reading at least in this circumstance.

A light push of the door with your fingers only creaked it further until a luminance caught your eye, its light flickering ever so slightly from the door and backlit from the afternoon sun that peeked from behind drawn curtains. You followed Toka leap onto the dorm bed behind the candlelit cake that illuminated Shinsou in the dim room. His dark violets stared into yours, slightly unnerved with the way the candles cast its light across his face. That was until—

"Happy Birthday to you," he started with his lazy tone. Was he really—

"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to—"

"Stop," you interrupted with the failed attempt to halt your chuckling, hands by your face to hide away the smile that refused to be bated. "You're not much of a singer, are you?"

Shinsou only stared blankly at your reaction, watching your shoulders shake and tremble in your defeated attempt to be cordial for the thought.

"I'm that bad, huh?" He dryly remarked, unsure whether to feel relieved that he didn't have to finish the song, or insulted by your laughter.

Your chest heaved with a snort or two escaping, only bubbling your laughter further into an inescapable smile. For all of your thoughts of being forgotten, even remarking on how trivial you had made it, Shinsou with a cake and attempting to sing was a sight to see. Your laughter though brought upon by the absurdity, was fueled from appreciation while you walked up to him with a hug.

"Thanks Shinsou," you perked with a smile, arms draped on his shoulders before you felt him hug you back.

"Happy Birthday," he simply replied in his deep voice, before he felt you pull away, now confused.

"When did you get back from internships?" You asked.

"I never went."

"Huh?"

Before another word was uttered, you were distracted by Toka rubbing against your legs, walking in between Shinsou and yourself while she mewled. That smile of yours returned, before the both of you eyed the cake still lit with a candle. With a quick puff, you blew it out immediately, drowning you in the very dim dark of his dorm.
