cw: vaguely graphic leg injury (if hurtfics make u uncomfy skip this one)

also this could maybe sorta be read as romantic maybe but putting it here bc i didnt write it w that intention

Peko wasn't meant to get caught by the Future Foundation. Her already-injured leg wasn't meant to get caught under a piece of rubble. She wasn't meant to have to try- to no avail- to stop some man with an odd piece of cowlicked hair and his... employees? Peko had guessed, from putting her in a car and driving her off to 'Future Foundation' as they'd called it. But things don't always go how they're meant to, do they?

Kyoko had been assigned to watch over and possibly get information from Peko until the rest of the remnants were detained. Makoto assigned her to Peko because he figured they were similar enough and Peko needed supervision, being a remnant of despair and all.

So that was how Peko found herself, in a stuffy room in some strange building, a set of handcuffs securing her hands to a bar on the side of the bed she'd been given. She'd been told someone was coming to speak to her, so they had to make sure she didn't hurt her 'guest', but the handcuffs were annoying at best.

After awhile Peko heard a lock click, and a young woman with long, lavender hair walked into the room. Peko noted that she also had a bag with her, seemingly filled with medical supplies.

"Hello, Peko. My name is Kyoko Kirigiri and I am here to watch over you for the time being."

Peko didn't say anything, only looking up at Kyoko with an annoyed expression.

Kyoko seemed to brush off her look, sitting down at a chair nearby. They sat in silence for a few minutes, before Kyoko spoke up.

"Your leg," Kyoko spoke, "What happened?"

Peko stayed silent with a glare, moving her leg away from her, instantly regretting it after a flash of pain.

"I'm not going to force you to speak," Kyoko sighed, "but I need to know what happened so I can treat it."

"...My young master injured it."

"Young master?" Kyoko questioned.

"I will not be giving his name. Even in despair I cannot betray him."

"But he injured you." Kyoko said, slightly confused.

"Yes. For the sake of both our despairs."

"So he's a remnant?"

Peko glared again, but Kyoko took this as a 'yes'.

"Anyways, what did he injure you with?" Kyoko asked, opening the first-aid bag.

"A sword."

"Your sword? The one we confiscated?"

Peko turned her head to her absent sword bag confused, before nodding.

"Did you really think we'd let a remnant in with a weapon?" Kyoko chuckled.

"I suppose not."

Kyoko didn't say anything, instead reaching to pull some disinfectant out of the bag. She opened one of the wipes, gently rubbing away the dried blood surrounding the gash.

"I'm going to get closer to the cut with the wipes. My apologies if it stings."

Kyoko did as she said, cleaning the edge of the wound, before accidently shifting her hand too much. Peko grit her teeth at the stinging sensation, jerking her leg away.

"Why can't I do this myself?" Peko asked through still gritted teeth.

"Because the foundation doesn't trust you. I don't either, considering all that talk about how despair-inducing the injury was. I'm not allowed to let you die, you know."

If looks could kill, Kyoko would be dead three times over, but Peko still relented her leg back to her.

Kyoko finished cleaning it rather quickly after that. She fastened butterfly closures to the sides of the wound, finishing it up by putting gauze over the gash and gently wrapping a bandage over it. She looked back at her work, satisfied, and looked up to see Peko softly snoring. Kyoko fought back a soft smile at the sight, before gently pulling a blanket over the girl's shoulder. She pulled out her phone and left Makoto a message about how it went, before removing Peko's handcuffs and ducking out of the room.
