"Hey." Belly spoke, her and April reaching Jeremiah, "did you know my dad's coming up for the Fourth?"
"Cool." Jeremiah responded casually, leaning forward to allow April to jump onto his back.
"Do you guys think its weird?" She asked, adjusting the band of her swimming costume.
"Not really," the boy answered spinning April around playfully, "I love your dad."
"Yeah and come on Bells, he's probably really missed you," April added laughing at Jeremiah, "at least your dads making the effort!"
Jeremiah lowered his friend to the floor and turned to face her, a disappointed look hanging on his face. "What? Mr Laurent's not joining us, again?"
April frowned and shook her head, wishing to not discuss the matter any further, "do you want him to come Belly?"
"Yeah, but they've only been divorced for, like, a year and a half," the Conklin girl huffed.
"Well, that's what's so cool about your mom, you know?" Jeremiah rambled, dragging Belly & April onto the beach with him. "She just doesn't give a shit."
"Exactly." Belly declared throwing her arms in the air dramatically, "she doesn't give a sh¡t because she's the one who wanted the divorce in the first place."
The boy breathed, "I think if you don't want to be married, you just shouldn't be married."
"Well spoken Jer!" April smiled, reaching over to ruffle the boys hair.
"Well, tell that to my grandma. She basically collapsed when my mom told her." Belly laughed as they edged further onto the sand.

"It's not that this conversation isn't incredibly riveting," the blonde said, "but can we go jump in the ocean already?"
"You want to race?" Jeremiah responded with a cheeky grin.
April began to prepare, realising that she needed the best start ever to possibly beat the other two - Belly she could manage, but Jeremiah never, not unless he was to fly face first into the sand.
"No, no, I can't, you..." Belly pleaded attempting to reject the challenge.
"Come on Belly, there's no harm in a little friendly competition." April voiced, grasping Belly's hands in her own and moving them around randomly.
"His legs are too long now." She replied pointing at Jeremiah's legs, "I can't do that."
April opted to grab one of her shoes and throw it towards her best friends face, before swiftly sprinting down the sand.
"Oh!" Jeremiah gasped, bringing a hand to his head, "did she really just fling a flip flop at me?"
"Yup." Belly responded laughing, before booting him in the leg and running after April, "that was a bad start."
"You cheaters!" The boy shouted, beginning to chase after them,  "I'm gonna get you."

"So your dads not coming." Jeremiah spoke, lounging on his friends bed, "you must be a little bummed, right?"
"Well yeah it sucks, but it means I can spend more time with you." April spoke loudly from inside of her closet.
"Yeah um...about that-" the boy replied hesitantly, watching April emerge from the closet.
"What Jer? You're not ditching me too are you?" She joked, moving over to lay down with him, "oh shit you are."
Jeremiah frowned at her, before blurting out, "me and Steven are working this summer."
"Huh." Was all she said, sitting up in shock.
Jeremiah wasn't stupid, he could sense the disappointment in her tone - it made him feel awful. All they'd talked about for months on end was finally being able to hang out again, to have fun again and now he'd gone and fucked it all up.
"Guess I'm spending my summer at the club then." She added, lightly tapping Jeremiah on the nose.
"I thought you hated that place St. James," the boy replied grasping his friends hand.
"Mhm, I do." April hummed, "but if it means I get to spend time with my favourite person, I guess I'll suffer."
To say Jeremiah was pleased would be an understatement, he was absolutely down right delighted. "Dinner tonight?"
"I can't moms orders," she murmured lightly. "Family meal Fisher! The first of seventeen."
"Ouch." The boy mouthed back towards her.
"Painful I know! But come on, if mom managed to rope Archer into going, I really didn't stand a chance." April answered pulling herself and Jeremiah up off of the bed. "Still on for the bonfire after though?"
"Of course," Jeremiah smirked, "its tradition."
