Apologies, I think I just created more heartache for all of you. Don't hate me. Hope you enjoy!

BTW, can everyone SEE the rest of 'Bed Time'? I keep looking at the chapter but I can only see a small chunk of it. It that the same for everybody else? Let me know in the comments.

Camila stayed downstairs with the kids that night. She didn't mean too. She was going to stay with them until they all went back to sleep (which took a long time after Gus's nightmare). But she was worried about one of them having a nightmare again. So she decided to stay for five more minutes after they fell asleep. Five minutes turned into ten minutes. Ten minutes turned into an hour. Next thing Camila, knew it was morning and her drool was on the couch.

She sat up on the couch to find and looked down at the five- no, wait - four sleeping kids in her living room. Luz was not there. Camila checked the clock on the coffee table next to the couch. It was 9:30 in the morning. Luz was always up around this time.

Camila slowly got up from the couch and tiptoed out of the room so as to not wake the others. She made her way toward the kitchen when she heard the sounds of cooking in the kitchen. Camila walked in to find Luz with a bowl in hand. Luz was focused, hunched over her work, but Camila could see how tired Luz still looked.

"Good morning, Mija (darling)." Camila smiled at Luz.

Luz looked up and gave Camila a weak smile. Her eyes looked tied and sad. "Hi Mom."

Camila felt her smile weaken. She knew bad things happened to all of them. But it seemed to be different for Luz. She was hiding something. Camila knew it. Because she had that expression on her face before.

"What are you making?" Camila asked.

"I'm making pancakes for everyone," Luz said. "The Boiling Isles doesn't have any pancakes, so I want them to experience some of the yummy food the Human World has."

"Okay, I'll help," Camila replied. She went into the cabinet above the stove and grabbed a pan. They worked in silence for several minutes, only speaking to tell each other what chore they would do next. Camila heated the pan on the stove and buttered it up. Luz finished mixing the pancake mix. As Luz poured the mix on the pan and flipped in the pancakes, Camila set the table.

Camila finally broke the silence. "What time did you get up?"

"A few hours before you did?" Luz replied.

"Really?" Camila turned from the table to look at Luz. Luz had her back to her mother as she worked on the pancakes. The nightmare happened around 3am. That means Luz only got a few hours of sleep.

"Yeah," Luz sighed. "I couldn't really sleep."

"Are you okay?" Camila asked.

"About as okay as the rest of my friends are," Luz said. She did not turn around to look at Camila. "But I'll be fine. I'm more worried about Gus. That nightmare really freaked him out."

Luz was trying to change the subject. Camila sighed. She went back into the living room the check on the kids. They were all still sound asleep. Good. Now Camila could avoid more tears from the others.

Camila went back into the kitchen. Luz had just finished making all of the pancakes. "Mija, while the others are still asleep, do you feel comfortable telling me what happened on the Boiling Isles?"

Luz paused. She finally turned around and looked at Camila. Luz had gotten a few inches taller since the beginning of the summer. Now that Camila saw her without the jacket, she could also see how muscular Luz had gotten. Despite this, Luz looked so small.
