TW: Violence, Knife

"Markus, nooo," Jaha's scream rang through the air. In this moment Lexa was glad that Anya and Indra took the Skaikrus to collect wood. Jaha rushed to Kane and knelt down beside him. To Lexa he begged, tears audible in his shaky voice, "Help us!" Lexa didn't even have to think about it. She took a cloth and gave it to Jaha, who bandaged Markus's arm. Luckily he didn't cut deep enough to hit the major artery in his arm. Because of the commotion the guards stormed in, but before they reached Lexa, Jaha had the dagger against her throat. "Thelonius, no," Kane tried to stop Jaha. He slowly got up without putting pressure on his injured arm. "I choose to live," was Jaha's only response, "Take of these chains."
"Please, she's just an innocent girl," Kane tried to reason with Jaha, but Lexa knew, he wouldn't budge.
"Em don sad klin. Dison laik ain. (He made his choice. This one's mine.)" and with that Lexa broke free from his grip, took her dagger, pinned him to the ground and knocked him out with the hilt of her dagger. She slowly rose, looked at Kane and then turned to the guards and Gustus, "Ai don sen in chit bilaik ai gaf sen in. (I've heard what I needed to hear.)" With that she went over to Gustus.
"Sha, Heda. (Yes, Commander.)," all three said and bowed to her. Than Gustus helped Lexa strap on her shoulder piece.
In shock Kane stared at her, "You are the Commander?"
Lexa stepped forward, "I've learned much about you. It's clear your intentions are honourable. Your desire for peace is true. For that I will free you. But your friend threatened a weak girl to get out of here. He attacked a defenceless girl and threatened her life. And he tried to kill me. To show my good will, I will not kill him. But I will not let this slide just like this. He will stay here."
She gestured her guards and they released Kane from the chains. "So, you are the leader of Skaikru?" Lexa asked Kane.
"I am. Or at least I try," Kane answered.
"Why don't we get to the fire," Lexa asked and left the tent with Gustus and her guards. Kane followed her and Gustus to the fire pit while the guards took guards in front of the tent again.

A few minutes of silence later Anya, Indra and the Skaikru came back from the wood picking. Kane immediately perked up when he heard the voices and when Clarke saw him, she rushed to him, dropping the firewood. Murphy couldn't care less. He never was to fond of the leaders of the Ark and neither were Bellamy and Octavia.
When Kane realised who came there, his eyes widened, "Clarke! Where were you. Your mother is sick with worries."
"It's a long story," Clarke said, "One we need to talk about. I wasn't imprisoned by Grounders. We have a bigger enemy. Most of the 100 are trapped inside Mount Weather. Just like many Grounders. And we need to help them. But how are you here? I thought you left to negotiate peace and that's why my mother is in charge."
"It's a long story," Kane smiled, "But apparently I didn't need to find the Commander. She found me."
Clarke nodded. "Our plan was to sleep here and go to Camp Jaha in the morning. The Heda wanted to discuss a treaty with our leadership."
Kane looked surprised, "Why that?"
Before Clarke could answer, Lexa started talking, "Anya," she motioned to Anya, "was my mentor when I was a child. And she is a general in my army. That is why I sent her to investigate The 100. I thought she died when Clarke burned 300 of my men. But instead she was imprisoned by the Maunon, the Mountain Men. And Clarke and Anya managed to escape together. When I got word that Anya survived and needed to talk to me, I immediately went to TonDC..."
"Like Washington DC?" Kane interrupted.
"I don't know what this Washington DC is, but we found a sign that said TonDC there. So we named the village that. But back to the story, in TonDC I met Clarke and if it wasn't for Anya our fist meeting would have been a lot different. But Clarke convinced me that we could both benefit from an alliance and that is why we're here."
"And what about the assassin you talked about in the tent?" Kane asked. "Was that a lie?"
Lexa knew, she should tell him the truth now, "No. Finn and Murphy kom Skaikru attacked the village with rifles and burned the entire food stock. That is why Murphy is banned from ever setting foot into TonDC again. That's partly because he also tried to stop Finn, even though it might have been half heartedly. I can't say for sure. But from what Anya and Clarke told me, I think my decision is more than fair."
"How many people died?" Kane asked sadly. He was worried for what it might mean for an alliance, but he was even sadder that people lost their life again. For nothing. He would definitely need to control the use of guns better.
"Luckily no one died. One of my warriors was able to prevent that from happening." Anya's voice startled Kane and Clarke. They hadn't heard her coming closer to the fire. She sat down next to them and started to make fire.
"And what is with Finn?" Kane asked.
Clarke continued the story, "He searched for me. He thought the grounders captured me and the 100. But he was wrong. After he was knocked out he was imprisoned with Murphy. When Heda discussed his punishment with Anya, Indra and me, I convinced her to hear Finn and Murphy out. But when Finn saw me he lost it and stormed to Heda. To protect her life, Anya had to kill him. His body is in the wagon over there. We wanted to give him a proper burial here."
Kane just nodded and looked into the growing flames of the newly lit fire. "I hope we can do better in the future," he said.
"So do I," Lexa answered. And then they grew silent.
Indra, the guards and Skaikru approached with the food they packed for the day and handed it out. They ate in silence and went to sleep near the fire shortly after.
