𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗜𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗥

Chapter Two

June 15th, 2003

[Later that day]

Tavia walks through a mob of all the students tossing papers that are most likely homework assignments or class work. She can barely hear herself think through all of the cheering and clamoring in the halls, she finally makes it outside and heads for her usual route of her little brothers  Kai and Kris' school.

She puts her headphones on and plays one of her favorite songs by the flyest out of St. Louis, Nelly. She rocks her hips to the beat, letting her whole body move as it wishes flowing with grace and passion.
Once the song ends, she makes it to Kris and Kai's elementary school.

Kris and Kai walk through the big double doors with their cute little backpacks, Kris has an Allen Iverson design on his and Kai has a Spider-Man design. Kai's bag looks so big on him it could knock his little body down if he trips.

As soon as they notice Tavia standing under a tree waiting for them they run to her,
"Tavi!" Kai exclaims

Tavia smiles and playfully snuffs both of their heads, "How was y'all last day of school?" She asks

"It was so fun! We played musical chairs and Ms.Johnson gave out candy" Kai beams showcasing his gap teeth

"Ms.Harris gave us candy too and she's pregnant!" Kris grins

Tavia looks at him puzzled, "Kris, why are you so happy she's pregnant?" She questions

He huffs dramatically as if Tavia's supposed to know why, "Because that means that she won't be able to teach us in the beginning of next year cause she'll still be pregnant, SO we'll have a sub for a couple of months, man god is good!" He beams

Tavia bursts into laughter, "I can't with you yo, you are too smart you know that?" She chuckles

Kris stops walking and pops the invisible color of his 76ers  jersey two sizes bigger than him
"And you know this!"

Tavia chuckles as she holds both of their hands, "You know what, since you two made it to your last day of school, how about we celebrate with some ice cream?" She suggests as she points to the ice cream truck across the street.

Their eyes light up "Yes!" She smiles as she helps them cross the street.

She let them pick out their ice cream, she even picked one for herself, "Alright that's $12.55"
The owner of the truck told

She nods then looked in her wallet, she only had two fives which was only enough for Kris and Kai's ice cream "Can take the cookies and cream sandwich off please?" She asked

The man nods, "That's now $9.25"

She hands him the two fives then he gives the boys their ice cream, "Why didn't you get an ice cream Tavi?" Kai asks as they continue walking

She sigh's"I couldn't afford it, it's alright though I don't need any ice cream anyway. Y'all deserve it more than I do." She forces a smile

Kris hugs her "Thanks Tavi" he smiles

She smiles back "No problem little bro"
