What is literature? Stupid question (I guess), but I suppose it's supposed to be art—whatever that is. If literature is religious, does it need to serve the needs of religion? Does it save souls? Is it the angel praying through a trumpet? Or the will to literature, does it sprinkle, douse, or dunk? I need a doughnut. A dunker doused in chocolate and sprinkled in cheap confetti. A doughnut that obeys just enough doughnut rules and does not get all preachy about the purity of shape, frosting, powder, or to bacon or not to bacon. And please, no coffee.
