Eddie walks over to Dustin and jokingly pretends to choke him, "I swear your surprises are gonna catch up to you one day."
Their relationship reminds me a bit of his with Steve. It makes me so happy knowing that the male figures in his life aren't total assholes. Sadly our father hasn't always been there. Before he left I was old enough to at least remember my time with him. Dustin was too young though. Thus why I was more convinced temporarily moving in with him was a good idea. Turns out it really wasn't.
Mike gave a small wave bringing me away from my thoughts, "Long time no see."
I blink a bit, trying to comprehend what I'm seeing, "Hey Mike...wow, you got tall." He simply nodded in response, definitely could feel the teenage angst fuming off the kid.
"No way, that's Y/N?" One of the guys said.
I turn away from Mike to the direction of the voice, "That would be me. Who might you be?"
"I'm Gareth, that's Jeff, and Grant." He pointed to each of the other members.
Hearing the names that go to the faces sparks a something, "Those names do sound familiar," I snapped my fingers as it hits me, "Corroded Coffin!!"
Eddie seemed flattered, "You remembered."
"Kinda hard to forget, I loved you guys! That's crazy, you're still together." I turn to Gareth, "What did you mean by that before? What's so interesting about 'Y/N'?"
"Well Eddie always tal-," Eddie shot Gareth a death glare. The room emits a mix of feelings following his cut off.
If they were trying to hide something, it was definitely very obvious now, "Eddie what?" I question.
Jeff continued for Gareth with a bit of hesitants, "We just remember you from when you hung out with Eddie."
"That and you're a legend." This time Grant was given a death stare from the whole group.
I exhale and cover my mouth, "You're joking." All exchange looks, "You're not?"
"You've been the only girl who has played DND with the party so far. Plus you we're highly ranked and made good campaigns." Dustin said the second part a bit quieter than the rest.
I did my best to hold back laughter, "That's news to me." I was honestly taken back by this information. Who knew simply being my dorky self with friends would be 'legendary'.
All was interrupted as the doors burst open. Everyone turns to face an out of breath Lucas, "I'm here." He pants, "I made it."
No one seems amused by late his arrival. Eddie puts an arms over him as he walks him to the table, "Glad you could grace us with your presence Sinclair." He roughly sits him in a chair and gets close to his ear, "Need I remind you your attendance is needed for the game to work. Let's not have this happen again shall we?"
Once Eddie has stopped harassing Lucas, he realizes I'm there, "Oh, Y/N, you're back!"
"Hey Lucas!" I smile, "Glad to see you getting along with Eddie." Yet again, another kid who had shot up like a weed. We've lived here for so long that I've been able to grow up alongside them. Still, seeing them older feels so weird.
Eddie patted Lucas on the back, "Of course we are." He makes his way to the head of the table, "Now, let's begin shall we?"
I take a seat closest to Eddie, on his right side, "I see you've taken my place as the game master."
"That I have Lady Midnight, it's been quite the honor." He gives a tiny bow.
I return the little bow, "There's not a soul I'd rather have carrying on my legacy." Our matching energy sends a feeling of comfort through me, making me remember just how much I missed him.

The campaign had finally came to a stopping point. Everyone had kinda dispersed into their own groups for the time being. I found myself on the side lines, taking everything in. My desire for the past year was finally fulfilled, I was home with friends doing what I loved.
My train of thought is derailed as I feel Eddie's presence next to me, "What's going on in that brain of yours?"
I keep my eyes forward while I speak, "I'm simply enjoying the moment."
He turns to face the direction I'm facing, the Hellfire Club all in view, "Ah, a bunch of nerds geeking out."
I chuckle a bit, "Not only that. I'm finally back with those close to me, spending time doing something we all love. Something I haven't done since I left because it hasn't felt right anywhere else, with anyone else. It makes me feel at home, like I'm myself again."
"Quite a lovely moment if you ask me," He gently bumps his elbow into arm, "You know we wouldn't necessarily all be here if it wasn't for you." I turn my head to him, he keeps his view ahead, "I remember eating lunch, all alone, when you sat down next to 7th grade Eddie. It started off with a compliment on my Metallica shirt. Then we got started on Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Quite the nerds we were."
"And still are." I slip in.
He nodded, "That we are," he took a deep breath, "You helped me get out of my shell. Soon the band was made, I even joined the talent show. Somewhere in between there we started to play DND and Hellfire began to emerge. I mean Dustin wouldn't have gotten so into it if it wasn't to show off to his big sister. Which led to our parties merging. You helped shape us, shape me. Which made you leaving hurt even more." Hearing that brought a feeling of nostalgia and heart warming.
I put my hand on his shoulder, bringing his attention fully to me, "Well I'm not going anywhere. So you're gonna just have to get used to me being around."
He gives a soft smile, a smile that brings such comfort me, "Are you free after this? I mean I know you just got back and all, so you're probably exhausted." He finds himself rambling a bit.
I remove my hand from his shoulder and point to Dustin, "I mean I have to take that one home before curfew. I know it's getting late, so I don't want mom mad at him for being out."
Eddie reads his watch, "Its only 9. The night is still young."
"Tell you what, I'll drop Dustin off and then we can go get something. It's on me." Eddie was right. I hadn't seen him in ages though and wasn't about to turn down the opportunity.
"Sounds good to me." He shouted for Dustin to come over.
We told Dustin the plans, to which he informed me that mom had agreed to Mike and Lucas spending the night. So I piled all the kids into my car. Once Eddie was done drooling over my car, he followed behind us in his van. He offered to drive me around, that I wouldn't have to worry about falling asleep at the wheel after we went out.
